Some fans are desperate to make Joe Alwyn and the relationship something it was not and it’s sad. Not every relationship which doesnt last forever needs to have a villian.

got both of these anons at the same time, clearly you guys are on the same wavelength! I agree — I’m sure there were both good and bad parts within the relationship and in other non-relationship parts of their lives over the years, and of course ultimately they weren’t happy together, but I don’t think we need to assume it was six years of hiding her true self and feeling stifled and miserable. personally I’d much rather take her at her word as she describes it in miss americana (that she was going through a horrible time but also she was really happy and that happiness came from falling in love and finding a quieter life)
