the worse things get the more folks need to learn about affinity fraud because unfortunately a community being more impoverished and struggling doesn't make it less likely that someone from the community might use the situation to grift and take advantage of people's fears or extract the little money they have. quite the opposite in fact it's a perfect environment to do so

you also need to stop treating grifts and frauds as Oopsies that aren't a big deal. sure the people creating them might do so for all kinds of reasons and aren't inhuman monsters who are a separate class in society or whatever. it's still incredibly fucking damaging and draining resources from people who desperately need them at this time as well as causing widespread lack of trust and/or panic. plus apologism for that kind of shit just becomes a gigantic green sign for all kinds of bad actors who will now see you and the people who trust you as perfect targets. you NEED to push back on this.
