Caelen loves jewelry. He has quite the collection of earrings, necklaces and rings. Every year, Dorian gifts him fancy handcrafted jewelry on his birthday, and Caelen saves them for special occasions.
He has a black cat named Ink. He adopted the cat on a stormy day in Dock Town, when he stumbled upon the poor little kitten in an alley.
He has terrible alcohol tolerance, so he usually avoids drinking alcoholic stuff. Lucky for him, mocktails are a thing, and he loves to order these whenever he goes to restaurants or social events.
He’s a short king! His height is 5'3" (1,63m). Because of that, Caelen often wears boots with low heels (usually around 2-3" / 5-7cm) to appear taller. This is actually one of his insecurities and he gets furious whenever someone makes fun of his height. Also, young!Caelen dreamed about growing up as tall as Marel… who’s 6'5". Needless to say, he was devastated when that didn’t happen.
I’ve talked about his dragon blood before, but I’ve never listed all the side effects that came with it, so:
Enhanced magic: Caelen’s magic is very powerful at the cost of being extremely volatile and hard to control. It took him many years of training to master casting spells without causing uneeded destruction. As a teenager, he often felt terrified about using his magic and accidentally hurting other people (yes, that happened before).
Fire affinity: Caelen has a natural affinity toward fire magic. Casting fire spells is like second nature to him, and he’s also resistant to flames.
Warmer body temperature: Bro is pretty much a walking furnace. Thanks to that, he doesn’t feel cold unless it’s snowing. Even then, he doesn’t need to get all bundled up in winter. On the other hand, he hates summer because hot weather makes him feel feverish and sick.
Increased appetite: He eats a lot for someone his size, lol. That’s because his magic consumes more energy than usual, which makes Caelen feel constantly hungry (he’s literally burning calories). This is why he’s always carrying snacks in his bag.
Draconic eyes: His eyes turn dragon-like whenever he feels strong emotions or casts spells. That also happens when he gets horny lmao.
Marel Lavellan
He’s a good cook! Marel enjoys cooking fulfilling dishes with lots of protein, like beef stews and roasted meat. His dishes have that rustic vibe to them but they’re very well seasoned and tasty. He often volunteers to cook for family dinners (especially because Dorian and Caelen are disasters in the kitchen lol).
One of the reasons why Marel chose Falon'Din’s vallaslin was to match his sister, Lenarin, who has Dirthamen’s vallaslin. He also has vallaslin tattooed over his back.
As a Reaver, Marel has enhanced strength, endurance and pain tolerance. Still, it took him a while to get used to drinking wyvern/dragon blood, because the initial side effects were… intense. At first, Marel’s temper became very explosive and he had trouble controlling his strength. There were also moments during battles when he was temporarily blinded by rage.
He’s not good with animals. Either Marel accidentally scares them off or they don’t like him at all. Reptiles are often chill around him, though. This is why he preferred to ride Dracolisks during the Inquisition.
Marel enjoys stargazing. It’s something he used to do back in his clan, especially with his mother. Sitting out in the night and watching the stars gives him this bittersweet feeling, but it also makes him feel connected to his clan — like they’re watching over him somehow.

Caelen Mercar - Lamborghini Revuelto
No surprises here, Caelen would absolutely love sports cars — not only because they’re stylish as hell, but also because they’re crazy fast. Considering many missions in the Shadow Dragons can go sideways, it comes in handy to have a car that can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a few seconds lol.
Another option would be a McLaren Artura. Both of these can be convertibles, which is also something that Caelen enjoys.
Overall, Caelen would love to drive around the city and go for rides with his friends and LIs. On that note, I’m pretty sure Lucanis would have a Maserati, and they would bicker about which model is the best. I’ve seen people saying Neve would be a terrible driver and I couldn’t agree more LMAO. Caelen would be more than happy to take her anywhere though 🙂↕️
Marel Lavellan - Toyota Tundra
Marel would have one of those pickup trucks that could survive a fucking apocalypse if needed. Something durable, reliable, and safe — hence the Toyota choice — for family road trips and even off-road shenanigans. I think large trucks match his vibe extremely well.
He would be the main driver on road trips, while Dorian and Caelen chilled in the passenger seats. Dorian would probably have a BMW or a Mercedes, which would be more suitable for city use.
Marel would also enjoy riding bikes. I can see him being a Harley-Davidson stan in his early twenties, but over time he ended up switching to cars. In a modern AU, maybe he could have lost his arm in a motorcycle accident, which made him go for safer options after that.
