Confused ace

Thinking about how Katniss and Peeta’s roles in Mockingjay were strangely reminiscent of their childhoods:

Peeta is being physically beaten and abused by those with power over him, and Katniss is forced to take on a role she is far too young for through no choice of her own.

imagine you are gimli and you hate elves and you are stuck traveling with one on a desperate mission to save the world and you’re like, “you better not do any prissy elf shit at me” and legolas looks up from where he’s eating worms straight off the ground like “did you say something”

one thing that pisses me off greatly is the (schorlaly) misunderstanding of éowyn. i've read too many papers mentionning that éowyn was weak and that tolkien didn't write strong women and?? i'm so confused. éowyn is one of the strongest characters. she killed the witch-king and once she accomplished her goal (to gain valour in battle) she chose a peaceful life because there was no need to fight anymore. this is the opposite to weakness. she chose peace over violence?? weak people are the ones who choose violence over peace

I know I've said it before but every rewatch I do cements this thought further - elijah wood's performance in LOTR is absolutely insane, they really had a character whose name means "wise by experience", hired an 18-year-old to do it, and he delivered so much that not only is it a beautiful and moving role on its own, it's a performance equal to those of the absolute powerhouses he played side by side with like ian holm and ian mckellen. to name just a few

the things that we've been forced to manage through crowdfunding websites are insane. victims of a genocide are having to market themselves as someone who is worthy of being saved.

living for more than a year under an active genocide while seeing your oppressors cruelty and disregard for your life increase is so horrendous.

every single person in gaza has lost too much. i don't think everyone must have to share their personal loss in order to be deemed as a person worthy of safety. i think we should try to help those we can see asking for it.

i request you to help alaa and her children. she needs to buy supplies and remain safe. her area was bombed very recently. her fundraiser has been verified.

Displacement has become a routine part of our lives… We leave tent after tent, searching for a shelter that won’t be bombed, for a corner of safety beyond the reach of warplanes. We no longer mourn the departure itself — we mourn how used to it we’ve become. Each time we leave, it feels like we’re saying goodbye to a piece of ourselves… to our memories, our dignity, our humanity.
