Guys if you want queer shit written by queers on our own terms you’re going to have to start seeking out weird independent media. I’m sorry that’s the only place you can regularly find it idk what to tell you, we can’t keep acting like there’s nothing if we’re not getting blockbusters and triple A titles or whatever it is we’re waiting around for. The thing you keep saying you want is already being offered for free by one person making a passion project on the internet and you would both benefit enormously if you interacted with it instead of lamenting that the only options we have for representation are pandering afterthoughts from corporate shit

I say this with so, so much care: Real queer shit written by real queers can and will sometimes make you uncomfortable. That’s one of the defining features of weird, independent queer media. And weird independent media more broadly. Art that comes from true individual passion and authenticity has edges and bite to it that mass market corporate products intentionally do not. Has a rawness that can offend.

You are allowed to feel uncomfortable about it. But don’t ask for queers to self censor for your comfort.

my unpopular opinion is that i hate tiktok because now people just publicly watch loud ass videos in public spaces with no regard for anyone else. 100% it was not this bad with youtube, it’s such a different thing with tiktok. put on headphones. you are grown.

Girl……

This is it! This is what social media/smart tech have done! They’ve rotted away any distinction between private and public.

Yes, we do have the right to make demands on public behavior. Of course we do. Have you never heard of laws and etiquette? I’m not allowed to grocery shop naked. You can’t rummage through my purse. I can’t have a work meeting in the middle of a movie theatre.

I remember when it was taboo simply to answer your cell phone in public. The person answering would apologize and try to go to a more private area. Then public calls were normalized. Then putting people on speaker. Then listening to music without headphones. Do you know how many times I have hiked up a mountain or driven to the beach, only to be met with someone blaring shitty top 40 music from their portable speaker, because Heaven forbid you go one hour without noise?

Old woman yells at cloud and all that, but I can’t believe someone is not only admitting this behavior, but saying it’s a good thing! No one likes you! You’re a menace!

i promise the map of salamander diversity is not what you expect

Appalachia numero uno salamander capital of the world baby <3 there are like 70 something species in North Carolina alone

Basically its cause they evolved here!

The U.S. states of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama also have the most biodiverse freshwater ecosystems in the world.

The Appalachian Mountains are notable for having the world’s greatest diversity of tree species in a temperate forest, with over 100 species of tree that make up the forest. They’re also a global hotspot of lichen biodiversity.

Fun fact, dozens of genera of plants only have 2 species in them, one found in Appalachia and one found in SE Asia. These are called vicariad species pairs. Eastern Asia and Appalachia has very similar climates, that’s why all the major Appalachian invasive species, such as Kudzu, are from eastern Asia

The SE United States has some of the nation’s most biodiverse ecosystems but they are also some of the least protected.

A declassified World War II-era government guide to “simple sabotage” is currently one of the most popular open source books on the internet. The book, called “Simple Sabotage Field Manual,” was declassified in 2008 by the CIA and “describes ways to train normal people to be purposefully annoying telephone operators, dysfunctional train conductors, befuddling middle managers, blundering factory workers, unruly movie theater patrons, and so on. In other words, teaching people to do their jobs badly.”

Over the last week, the guide has surged to become the 5th-most-accessed book on Project Gutenberg, an open source repository of free and public domain ebooks. It is also the fifth most popular ebook on the site over the last 30 days, having been accessed nearly 60,000 times over the last month (just behind Romeo and Juliet).

Link to the Guide at Project Gutenberg can be found here

Mirrors can be found here, here, here, here and here.

Gosh it would be a shame if this got even MORE visibility.

Whoops my cursor slipped.

[image ID: TikTok comment by Spedubopy: I once had a german bouncer look at my pre transition-ID and then back at me and just go “ja das ist an improvement” /end ID]

After I came out as an adult to my childhood best friend, he went back to his family and told them and then when we next spoke he said, ‘we’ve decided this is a good move for you.’
