It's becoming clearer that sometimes when I say "use your local library" it's taken as "use a public library" and while that is definitely something you should be doing if you can, I'm usually talking about any library that's accessible to you!! Lending libraries, online libraries, school libraries, all of these are important to use as well!! If you have access to them, use them!! "Your local library" means any library that is local to you!

Also consider online libraries / places for books. gutenberg.org is a great place to search for classics. You can also find free audiobooks on YouTube, or read original books from others on Wattpad (the comments are hilarious!) or even here on Tumblr.

everyone give thanks to the middle eastern and north african people of over ten thousand years ago for domesticating the african wildcat and providing the entire world with some of the best pets ever 🙏🙏🙏 it was probably the best idea any human has ever had.

you can honestly tell that this is the ancestor of all domestic cats. look at it. just a lil tabby cat. with long long legs.

I think it is important to add, that cat's have also been domesticated all over asia and europe with some lineages being lost to time

And while modern domesticated cats are maternally most closely related to near-eastern and african wildcats, their nuclear dna is closer to that of european wildcats, which can quite easily be mistaken for domesticated cats.

Bonus-Fact: the German region of Schleswig-Holstein has just had their first confirmed sighting of a european wildcat in centuries (it was found stuck in/on this fence. It was immediately released and they just tested some hair from the fence to confirm that it's actually a wildcat)
