a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

absolutely flabbergasting to see people who have so enthusiastically succumbed to despair. like okay denethor, but some of us are gonna actually face the armies of mordor in battle nonetheless.
The thing about Denethor is that he not only succumbed to despair, he wanted to ensure that Faramir succumbed with him. Similarly, a lot of people now are not only succumbing to despair, they’re actively proselytizing despair, trying to convince others to join them in their hopelessness. Despair is apparently lonely and they want company in their self-immolation.
btw denethor succumbed to despair bc he was doomscrolling on the palantir. Sauron tweaked his algorithm so he only saw bad news, and he fell into the trap of thinking the world couldn’t be saved.

Tumblr is great bc you get to witness people going sincerely all the way fucking crazy with how much they love the dumbest/most mediocre piece of art you’ve ever seen and you get to really sit in how varied and vast the human experience is
Also it helps you never forget that to someone else YOU’RE the person going sincerely all the way fucking crazy over something incredibly mid. And I love that. Stay humble ❤️

“focaccia, serves 4” yes all 4 me
“tiramisu, serves 2” yes all 2 myself

Oh. Sorry. It must be my tone.
My mother says I sound perpetually insincere.
FANDOM, THE TWIN CITIES NEED YOU
Alpha News, our local fascist outlet that “leaked” Jonathan Ross’s video of him murdering Renee Good, which also pushed George Floyd conspiracy theories, with an anchor married to loathsome fascist police union boss Bob Kroll (Liz Collin), has set up another doxx line, this time for ICE observers.
WE NEED THEM TO BE OVERWHELMED WITH USELESS INFORMATION.
Please help us! We are under occupation!
Their post about it:
This is something you can do 100% remotely that is VERY HELPFUL to stop observers from being intimidated out of doing this vital work. It is not an exaggeration to say spamming this line will save lives: the more observers we have, the fewer people ICE can abduct, abuse, murder, and send to concentration camps.
PLEASE REBLOG AND SHARE.

Just started saving craft and art and direct action and activism tutorials I want to be able to find again to The Wayback Machine* so that I know I’ll always be able to find them again if they get moved or deleted
*The Internet Archive has a browser extension that lets you automatically archive a page with literally two clicks
And immediately. 10/10. 14/10. Would absolutely recommend
It also lets you see any archived versions of a page with just a few clicks, so it’s great for getting around paywalls, as well as for keeping data and news stories from being deleted or moved
You can get the extension (or app for phones?) here:
Got stuck trying to find an article explaining how awesome this extension is but I did find out this is actually even more important activism and archival work than I had realized:
The Wayback Machine Chrome browser extension helps make the web more reliable by detecting dead web pages and offering to replay archived versions of them. You can get it here.
For the past 20 years, the Internet Archive has recorded and preserved web pages, and hundreds of billions of them are available via the Wayback Machine. This is good because we are learning the web is fragile and ephemeral. For example a 2013 Harvard study found that 49% of the URLs referenced in U.S. Supreme Court decisions are now dead. Those decisions affect everyone in the U.S., and the evidence the opinions are based on is disappearing.-via The Internet Archive, January 13, 2017
And that was before the US government started deleting unbelievably important and massive resources, databases, and datasets!!
Next time you see a page and mentally go “ooh people need to see this,” I recommend you hit a button and help a future you and millions of other people out!!!
(Extension here: Wayback Machine Availability API, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, iOS, Android)
And all that aside, the potential for recipes
Imagine: Never having to go back and find a recipe you wanted or loved was deleted ever again. Because you go to the link/website/page and it’s already there, saved for you, with the touch of a button
