whether that be by choosing to go by El, the nickname given to her by the first person to actually treat her like a human being and is then used by the rest of her found/chosen family,

or by choosing to go by Jane, her actual given name, and the last connection she has to a mother she will never know. reclaiming what was stolen from her as an infant.

or even choosing her own name. a new name. something she came up with on her own, with no outside influence. something that leaves everything else behind and says "this is who i choose to be."
