i have, a lot of thoughts about alicent relationship with her children, her difficulty to love them as she prays to the Mother she wishes to be. but she cannot, and so much of that is tied to her trauma of being a child bride, forcing child after child, having no say in any of it and then being expected by her society, her religion, herself to be a good mother. a loving one like her own, like aemma. like rhaenyra. but she cant find it in herself to find that 'motherly' love that comes so easily. to top it off, she is reminded by her first borns very birth, they have never been hers. the day aegon, a boy, the heir she was married off for, aemma suffered and died for, was born? that was the realms heir, son of viserys. i doubt she even got to name him(we cant confirm but the first born being named aegon, the name of a conquerer feels of ottos doing, in fact all of the targaryen names for her children with maybe the exception of helaena may be his doing)

and then to be slapped in the face when viserys ignores the children he forced unto her young body, the way he did with aemma, to treat rhaenyra as his only child and appoint her his heir. she had no freedom, no autonomy, only the expectation and duty to be a good wife and mother. and she tried, thats all she ever did was try to be the perfect pious wife, and queen. but she failed to be the perfect mother, with the reminder of that staring her in the face day after day.

what i find most tragic of it is when helaena is born. alicent finally feels a sort of kinship with her daughter for being a girl, and actively tries to connect and be affectionate, yet in the end it fails! her daughter is different, so different to her, adversed to touch(at no fault of helaena) when alicent is a person who has been denied affection and craves it. its as if life continues to mock her. it makes sense to me the way alicent lashes out, is full of anger because that anger is hurt and fear, its the sadness of an abused lonely girl. i understand why she focuses that anger at rhaenyra, she sees how at ease her former best friend is able to just simply love her own sons like air. why cant alicent? what is she soing wrong?

i do not blame nor hold it against alicent to feel feelings of resentment, detachness, nor affection for these children. especially her sons. that she could not love them as she should. just as i do not blame her sons for turning out how they did when they never received the love a child should have from both their parents.

some say its complicated or it goes againts her character for swithcing sides by betraying her sons but its not!! its very easy to understand the root of it. and to see it!! i dont know why saying so is controversial, olivia is doing a pretty darn good job portraying a traumatized, abused women who never got to be a girl. a child who had children.

one thing that scares me about thunderbolts is marvel making them suddenly irrelevant.

they bring another group in maybe, they take them apart, they kill one or more of them off.

we have this group, so much more familair than the avengers ever was. they all have trauma, then they all got shared trauma. they bonded over how much their lives suck but they dont spend their time dwelling on that. they dont enjoy this never ending suffering so they're doing something against it. they encourage each other to go to therapy. they help each other come off substance abuse. they live together in a tower and they have rooms on the same level and they hang out in the common room and kitchen.

and it works. it just works really well, and they're communicating and having fun and their streak of people saved has been held up for months and they are really scared to break it but are still prepare that one day something will go wrong and someone may die or get hurt and thats okay. we need to stay with each other.

so if marvel now brings in someone else. pushes them to the backround and says: sorry. the whole point of their movie was actually just to introduce them so you know who they are. they are actually not important. no they are not the new avengers. they are actually really irrelevant. yeah.

I’m not sure if anyone has pointed this out already, but I find it hilarious that Bucky used the Chitauri handcuffs on Ava. I just want to know if he stole them from Valentina’s Avengers auction, or if someone else gave them to him. (˃̴̀ᄇॢ˂̴́ ∗)
