First time physically here, but emotionally I've been here since 2012
Hoid: I'm gonna tell you a story Kaladin
Kaladin: I'm busy right now
Hoid: It's called "Shrek"
Kaladin: Not interested.
Hoid: and every single villain in this story is a lighteyes
Kaladin:
Kaladin: ...keep going
Extremely excellent, very very very autistic quote from Brennan Lee Mulligan:
"Curiosity is love for the world, and when you love something, you want to get to know it more. So when you share facts about crows or pterodactyls or whatever, what you are expressing is gratitude for the ability to exist in and come to understand the beauty of the world around you."
"When you tell someone that you don't like all the crow facts, you're...
"You're actually saying that you hate me. I am my crow facts."
There’s a difference between a female character who exists in a story and has a romantic relationship with a male character versus a female character who exists in a story to have a romantic relationship with a male character
I have seen like 10 of these posts with the same title.
I had issues with the body positivity movement. I eventually ended up in the neutrality camp because of those issues. I didn't think we needed to convince everyone our bodies are beautiful. We just need them to respect us no matter how we look.
But these posts feel like they don't actually know what the body positivity ethos actually is.
It certainly isn't "If you are fat, you must stay that way forever."
I'm also really worried about the stigmatization of Ozempic. This is such a promising class of drugs that could extend the lives of many people. And, yes, there is concern about how to deal with abuse and eating disorders.
But I've seen Jameela Jamil trashing Ozempic and saying your guts will explode and you'll get all kinds of side effects. And then I looked up the actual studies and there were like 2 cases of serious side effects that they could not conclusively link to the drug because there were comorbidities. But she made it sound like horrible side effects were almost inevitable and probably scared a lot of people out of taking the medicine, even if they might genuinely benefit.
I feel like one group is making a moral judgment about Ozempic because it is "cheating" and another is fear mongering and saying "your guts will explode" because celebrities are treating it like a fad diet.
Meanwhile everyone at risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes is just trying to afford it.
I feel like we've lost the plot completely.
I’m a type 1 diabetic (not caused by weight… even though type 2 is also not always caused by weight) and ozempic made my blood sugars so NORMAl. I could still eat. My stomach didn’t explode and I didn’t have the constant fatigue from fighting blood sugars daily.
Now if my insurance could figure itself out and get me back on that would be great.
But a metabolic drug isn’t always for weight loss either …
My boobs are my favorite accessory
don't infantilise yourself. you are not a child who needs an adult to make your decisions for you. you are a splendid and magnificent autocrat and you are consulting your trusted advisors. you are exercising great wisdom by inviting an expert to give their opinion before making your ruling. often the path of wisdom is to say "good morning, I'm trying to [perform task] and I have a question about [aspect], can you tell me who I should speak to for advice?" before you do it. sometimes the path of wisdom is to hire a plumber. there are times when you cannot do things for yourself but that doesn't mean you are not an adult. you don't need a grown-up. you need a specialist.
this has come up a couple of times so let me be really really clear:
the path of wisdom is sometimes to hire a plumber.
the path of wisdom is always to hire an electrician.
