It’s January 1st, and everyone is setting goals for themselves. Completely unrelated to the new year, resolutions, and self-care, I’ve decided to invent and take on my own month-long art exercise.
Introducing
That’s right, for the month of January, I’ll be posting simple little drawings of beloved canine companions. My goal is to draw one every day, but please be patient with me if for whatever reason I have to miss a day or two.
I’ll be tagging my work as #Doodle January
1. Archie
2. Cowboy
3. Venus
(And before you ask, no, I don’t have a plan on who I’m going to draw, and yes, my inbox is open for suggestions if you would like to show me your canine companions!) Why am I doing this?
Just for fun, really! I also wanted to use something simple and enjoyable to help me train myself for consistency in art challenges, something I’ve struggled with a lot in the past, self-management, and creating reasonable goals for myself. I also want to improve on how I draw animals, especially dogs, since I’m a huge dog lover but don’t draw them very often. And even though I’m working in a more chibi-esque style for this challenge, I want to increase my ability to really capture a pet’s character in my style and overall improve my work, even if by a little bit.
Why is it in January?
Honestly, for no reason other than I thought up the idea mid-December and wanted to try it at the start of a month, lol.
Will you do cats or other pets?
For this challenge I’m really only planning on doing dogs, but I might do one or two cats if I feel like it!
Can’t wait to see how this goes! Hope you have a great day!🧡
