The war in Sudan has reached its 10th month. The war has been met with a global indifference or there has been no desire to act from many world leaders.

8 million people have fled their homes and millions of Sudanese people have emergency food insecurity, with 5 million people on the brink of famine. even the neighbouring country Chad has had to declare a food insecurity emergency due to the mass amount of Sudanese people that have fled to Chad. (By no fault of their own of course)

Faced with a media blackout which is over a week at this point we need to continue to amplify the voices and plight of the Sudanese people.

Dear folks,

I write to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for help. In Kenya, a dire situation is unfolding, as hundreds of LGBTQ individuals, including children, lesbians, and transgender individuals, are trapped in a state of uncertainty and fear. They have been forced to flee their homes due to persecution, only to find themselves stranded in a country that offers them no solace.

Currently, approximately 10 LGBTQ refugees are stuck in Kenya, desperately seeking a safe passage to South Sudan, their neighboring country. The lack of transportation options has left them in a vulnerable position, with their lives hanging in the balance. Kenya, regrettably, has been known for its ongoing persecution of LGBTQ individuals, leaving us with no choice but to flee for their safety.

We cannot turn a blind eye to this humanitarian crisis. These individuals deserve the same basic human rights and freedoms that we often take for granted. Their lives are at risk, and their voices must be heard.

I implore you, dear folks , to rally behind us refugees and support our journey to safety. Spread awareness about our plight, share our stories, and call on compassionate folks to help.

Every voice and life matters, and together we can make a difference. Please stand in solidarity with us LGBTQ, and non-binary siblings in Kenya and demand justice and equality for all. Please support us.

guys i actually beg of you to not let palestine become an unpleasant flashback, a transient tumblr trend, a hasbeen subject that just faded away. as an arab—and specifically iraqi—girl, i know what it feels like to have family displaced all over the world as a result of western imperialism. i know what it feels like to not be able to step foot into your homeland because it’s no longer safe. as an american iraqi, raised in the us and insulated from my roots, it wasn’t until last summer that i was able to visit iraq for the first time, and even then my family was worried for my safety—in my own blood country. although nothing like what palestinians are experiencing right now, it might be the tiniest semblance of what it feels like to watch your country disintegrate in front of you.

and this is a universal arab experience. i volunteer weekly at a refugee center that serves middle eastern refugees, and every day i see the longing in their eyes when they speak of where they hail from. it’s safe to say that we will be getting a wave of palestinian refugees very soon: just another generation of arabs who can’t inhabit their own country.

arab culture is so rich, so profound, so beautiful. i am tired of being told by the world—through literal genocide—that it doesn’t mean anything. please never let this be forgotten. free palestine. free palestine. free palestine.

Let’s pay attention to what’s happening in the Congo.

viking-raider

Cobalt is used in a lot of items to, not just color pigments for paint, enamel, pottery, or glass!

It's used in rechargeable batteries, like in cars, Solar Panels and smartphones. It's used in medicine, Vitamin B-12, types of Orthopedic and Dental replacements. It's also in jet turbines and magnets. Just to name a few!

So, the exploitation of the Cobalt deposits in Congo and the people of the Congo, it isn't just for one small pocket industry that's monopolizing it! Everyone has a finger in going over to the Congo and disrespecting the Congolese and stealing their resource from underneath them with no equal and fair share. In the least!

[Image ID: A series of screenshots of a tiktok video discussing the genocide of the Congolese people. There are nine images, eight depicting people mining in highly dangerous and subhuman conditions, many of the people shown being children. They are carrying heavy bags, handling raw mineral in their bare hands, and sitting or standing, mining in an open mine surrounded by raw ore in casual clothing, with absolutely no protective gear being worn. The last image is the Congo flag.

The text throughout the screenshots reads: “Congo (Congo flag emoji) is experiencing a silent genocide following the exploitation of the Congo and her people for Cobalt. Congolese children, women, and men are being forced to work in subhuman conditions to dig up and mine cobalt. Women and children are the most vulnerable. So much that many have been and are the victim of rape and sexual assault in these inhumane conditions. These workers do extremely dangerous labor for the equivalent of just one [United States] dollar a day. Cobalt is extremely toxic to touch and breathe—and there are hundreds of thousands of poor Congolese people touching and breathing it every day in these regions. The U.S., U.K., and France have orderd militias to abduct children, traffic children, recruit children from even other parts of the Congo to be exploited. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced because their villages were just bulldozed over to make place for large mining concessions. The level of degradation, the level of exploitation is on par with old-world slavery. (In all caps) Save Congo! (Congo flag emoji, followed by a heart emoji)”
