I think the absolute worst term to come out of this age of pseudo-scientific puritanical bullshit has got to be “dopamine addiction”. “You’re addicted to feeling good and having fun” bitch yeah???? What else are we on this earth to do??

A dopamine addicted person would be perfectly fine not scrolling social media if they were gaming, and could get by fine not doing either of those things while binge-eating, masturbating, smoking, hell even just listening to music for some people. The only common thread is dopamine; they behave like an addict but the thing they are addicted is a dozen different completely interchangeable dopamine sources any individual one of which they’d be fine without.

Like it refers to someone who will prioritize something that gives immediate short-term pleasure over even things that they themselves believe they would prefer but which do not do that.
