Deep Sea December 2025: Day 6-Crystal
The shells and hard structures built by many oceanic organisms are made up of calcite and aragonite crystals! Modern mollusks, oysters, and corals are all examples of this. Extinct species, like this ammonite also used these crystal structures, occasionally during the fossilization process ammonite shells can form a crystal called ammolite. As can be seen in the pictures below ammolite has a very pretty rainbowy iridescence, that was incredibly fun to paint!!
Ammo-nice work! ✨

The Butterfly Boy: a Fairytale.
A fairytale about the feeling of waiting on the edge of massive existential societal tragedies you are powerless to prevent, the way that we scapegoat the victims of broader societal failures as if they were the Cause, and the way that we treat children who will never grow into a "conventional" adulthood.
Thank you to everyone who followed along as I was sharing the pages for these past couple months! <3 :_:
