making a destiny 2 oc is a realm I never even considered in “shoot everything all the time” game
like yes this game has a plot and the guardian is fiercely generic and everyone experiences the same plot together but separately but still I could just. give her a name. and a story.
I can come up with whatever little story I want and make reasons for all the gear I use and the colors of things and. name my little Ghost. that’s a thing I can do.
I love writing. anyway everyone tell me about your d2 ocs
If you haven't heard, the em dash has been getting a lot of attention lately…
Because it was trained on pirated work—including freely accessible online writing (like fanfic, academic texts)—ChatGPT picked up patterns and quirks native to human writing.
Including (sigh) the em dash.
There are other victims here (RIP tapestry and delve 🫠), but the appropriation of the em dash—a punctuation mark beloved by writers everywhere—feels especially personal.
A kind of low-grade panic is ensuing. Writers who once memed their own em dash overuse—the greatest punctuation mark ever to grace the control-freak’s lexicon, frankly—are suddenly backing away to avoid accusations.
No. More. We have centuries of dash-abusing writers behind us. We will not sit quietly while AI repurposes our beloved stilted aside—or the just-one-more clarification the sentence demands—or the dramatic pause your comma could never—etc.
You don’t write like AI—AI writes like you.
Defend the em dash.

I kind of want to create a Minecraft texture pack that turns Wandering Traders into Xûr and Traders' llamas into Starhorse(s) but. Then I'm gonna be sad when he dies in my yard
Both of my Minecraft texture pack projects kinda got interrupted by me suddenly having to move to Florida for a few months and I forgot about them for a while BUT. What if I told you. I made a Rahool villager skin
Since this is back in the forefront of my mind, I'm remembering the biggest issue I had with the hypothetical* Rahool villager reskin: villagers actually have a LOT of different skins, even if we ignore the differences between biomes. It would quickly get confusing and frustrating if ALL villagers looked identical. Some potential solutions I've thought of are:
1. Only librarian villagers are Rahool; they automatically transform into him upon claiming that profession
2. All villagers are Rahool, but their robes are color-coded. Librarians are the original yellow, unemployed villagers are beige, weaponsmiths are blue, etc.
If anyone has thoughts on any of this, I'd LOVE to hear them!
Side note, this hypothetical texture pack would also turn emeralds into enhancement cores (originally it was going to be purple legendary shards, but those don't exist anymore, so it probably wouldn't make sense)
*I want to make this a real texture pack, but I'm not very tech-savvy and I don't want to disappoint anyone if I can't figure out how to make it functional
plz plz plz plz tell me how I get Rahool villager and Xûr and Starhorse trader
News about the Europa Ice War, from the guy who started it
For context in case someone missed it: this past week has had an explosion of fiction and art being posted to Twitter and to a lesser extent a few other social media sites, accounts and memoirs of a brutal eternal conflict on Jupiter's icy moon Europa.
At first people thought this was a spontaneous fic situation like Goncharov, but it turns out to have been viral marketing for an (upcoming?) tabletop roleplaying game zine that got wildly out of hand (up to and including some indirect acknowledgment from a NASA social media account).
So it's less unreality and more, fanfic I guess.
...And now I really badly want to get my hands on that zine, I was already starting to brainstorm how to translate the thing into an RPG and turns out I won't even have to lmao.

been taking a break from world stuff for a bit to play in the fanfiction sandbox again, and i’ve noticed two (2) things so far:
1.) writing fanfic is the perfect exercise for writers block because I can just take the characters as they exist in my lil noggin and not worry about staying setting perfect. there’s already written lore telling me the bounds I have to work with, and I can just mess around with everything else. who says I can’t make Dean Winchester wear the bad man pink vegeta shirt, he’s a comic store owner in this au anyway!
2.) my characters live so deep in my subconscious I can’t stop seeing them in other media now, so I guess i’m gonna have to dedicate a tag to “characters that remind me of my characters” or something. characters squared. fractal characters. what’s the math concept i’m thinking of.
anyway, write more fanfic guys. it’s good for your brain and helps you stay creative while you feel stuck.
I can’t believe I forgot I made Dean Winchester own a comic store where did I put that fic omg
Guys, please do not go into debt over occult shit.
Maybe it's time you got really into folk magic.
Or just bootleg those rare, out of print books (it's fun!).
There's also a lot of value in just talking to lots of practitioners from various backgrounds.
Buying a bunch of expensive shit is not going to make you suddenly level up.
Deals made at the crossroads at midnight during the dark of the moon are free!
i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point
you get it. you get the themes. i dont have time to do it justice. just look at it its on the ceiling
Oh my god is this fucking "witch wound" thing just repackaged starseed/indigo child bullshit with a fake-ass Burning Times veneer over top. Is that what this is. I keep seeing it on Etsy during ADversary stuff, selling readings about the Mystical Witch Wound and offering remedies and other extremely generic shit you don't need.
Listen to me. I am taking your hands so so gently and speaking softly but firmly. This is bullshit designed to sell you the idea that you are Special and Unique and ohhh if you just Try Harder, you'll be okay!! But also Buy This Product To Heal Your Witch Wound, $500 but on sale for you right now because it's Meant To Be.
Feeling as though you're an outcast by nature, trampled upon by the very fabric of our existence, different than everyone around you, a true misfit on planet earth... is fucking normal. It's not a sign, it's capitalism and neglect and abuse and psychological illness. It's becoming an adult in an age where the old markers of success don't apply anymore. It's growing up to realize the world isn't what you were promised and that fucking sucks, but it isn't just you.
Do not take the bait. These people want money, attention, and power. Give them none of it.
literally every 'witch tip' i'm seeing nowadays is the same 'find what resonates with you' jargon-heavy basics that aren't really helping anyone grow, so here ya go:
- rosemary has an attitude, whether you grow it yourself or buy it dried. respect it or suffer. mint is much more forgiving.
- get your pets (even familiars) used to the feeling of energy work before doing spells around them or they will be unnerved when you do a big working out of nowhere, which can throw off your vibes in turn.
- being Aware™️of craft-related things like entities and presences WILL give you a headache and make you tired. it's hard work for your brain. take breaks, close your third eye for a while, and invest in tylenol.
- sometimes your religion (if you have one) will conflict with your craft or the way you practice either. choose carefully, but pick. do not force opposing histories to play nice together.
- every witchy tradition has roots in one or many cultures. make sure you're using the one you align with.
- keeping snacks (especially almonds) in your pockets both draws further abundance and keeps you fueled.
- you can scry on literally any reflective surface, but once you use that surface to scry, it will never fully be a normal reflection again. pick your scrying mirrors wisely.
- manifestation doesn't do double negatives. "I am powerful," not "I will not be weak." the energy will get confused and leave you wanting.
- cinnamon should be blown INTO your house to bring IN abundance.
i made this mistake as well. - check to make sure any herbs you ingest (smoke included) don't interfere with any meds you're taking (birth control included)
anyway I'll probably have more later, have fun y'all
There needs to be more emphasis on scientific properties of crystals and spell crafting rather than just symbolically throwing some leaves in a pot and setting a hodge podge of shit on fire because some rando on the Internet said drinking the ashes from a sacrifice will heal you BUT ONLY IF mixed with moon water or whatever :/
there's a weird line to walk here.
on the one hand, scientific properties are hugely important in life in general, not just witchcraft. the old ways exist for a reason, everything started somewhere, and certain ingredients in the craft became popular because they had real, observable, and provable uses and properties that made a real impact on people's lives. herbs create reactions in the body, stones have purposes for mental and emotional reasons; hell, salt lamps are proven to change the ions in the air.
on the other side, all you really need - like, need need, absolute bare minimum necessity - to practice witchcraft is intention. you don't actually need physical items or ingredients to work magic, and many closeted witches have proven this point by continuing to practice despite having to hide their craft.
so what properties actually define importance in spellwork?
in my opinion, it's when you start using physical items for their properties that you have to start paying attention to what those properties are.
don't use rose quartz for hexes, use it for love and compassion work. don't use rosemary for binding work (mostly), use it for protection and growth. don't use mint for... well, you can almost use mint for anything.
my point is, properties only really matter if you intend for their properties to matter. if you're just using what you have available, use what you have for whatever you need it to be.
the moment you start applying intention to something it cannot be, is where you start to meet problems.
