They should make it easier for trans women
Always worth re-sharing this.
1. We are all flawed, traumatized humans at the end of their rope. Many of our actions say more about the conditions we live under than who we are as people.
2. No one is disposable. No one is unsalvageable.
3. Life holds greater value than being right or comfortable. Hurt is preferable to death.
4. No one should be deprived of community.
5. Harm does not require further harm. Punishment does not equate protection or healing.
read this one too. while i’m giving homework.
estrogen is a ploy by big women to sell more women
everyone say thank you big women
thank you big women
you’re welcome
can we please acknowledge that tma/tme is a meaningful distinction? a justice of the US supreme court is openly saying that it's legal to discriminate against trans women because the same laws do not target trans men. the transmisogyny is what makes it permissible. your transphobia is fine as long as it has carveouts for men.
Fascinating parallel here. This incapacity of the legal framework to protect groups who are at the intersection of two protected groups (trans women in this case, black women in the original) even while protecting both groups individually is Crenshaw's original reason for coining the word "intersectionality", which has since gone through the wringer.
"female characters dont need to be good at fighting to be good characters" is one of those things thats like techincally true but really stupid to say. itd be pointless to say about any art that is not about people fighting, so anyone who says is revealing their tastes and biases more than they realize. and with things that are about people fighting, where that is the main draw, then it certainly says something how often female characters dont participate in that main draw.
like if youre watching the Bid Dumb Fights show, youre watching it for Big Dumb Fights. the fact that characters not involved in the Big Dumb Fights can still be good characters doesnt contradict the idea that female characters never being in the Big Dumb Fights, or their Big Dumb Fights getting less focus and happening less frequently is the result of misogyny.
i think this is why is struggle to take criticism of "girl whos only personality is being good at fighting" seriously. such a criticism can only be applied ot things where there are many guys whos only personality is being good at fighting, and they are fan favorite characters. people love male battle junkies. people love male stoic warriors. you cannot convince me its actually bad when those archetypes and similar ones are made into female characters.
far more often the actual problem is not that the girl's only personality trait is fighting, but that she is the only girl. the solution is more girls who are good at fighting, not less.
This is exactly what I'm after too. It's a big part of why I like Korra, Tetsuwan Birdy, and RWBY/monty oum animations. You just don't get solid, kinetic-feeling female-led action very often.
But breasting boobily....
As a lover of breasting boobily this is why I have such a strong reaction against the lazy gooner bait pandering! I wanna see hot characters be hot with the skill and effort that only a true connoisseur of tits and ass could provide! I want something made with the tender love and care of someone who understands the appeal of the tease versus someone who bases how sexy something is on what letter the cup size is. Someone who understands that it's hotter for a character like Tifa to have a bit of sports bra exposed under her top versus some guy online who is outraged because it means she's technically wearing more clothes. We need people making art of girls breasting boobily because they love the female form, not because they view women as cool posters.
You can cut past like 90% of gender essentialism by shifting from "men are like X because they're men, and women are like Y because they're women" to "people are held to different standards, given different amounts of criticism, grace, encouragement etc based on positionality and they change and grow as a result."
The cutest thing I ever heard an egg say was "I wish I was a trans woman so I could take estrogen" and I think people forget something: you can take the estrogen to become a trans woman, too! You don't have to become a trans woman "first".
It's okay to do it in any order, as long as you push towards a better future!
This movie heals my little girl soul
Always open to recs. Transfem butches are loved and appreciated, and I don't tolerate invisibilization of transfeminine people when speaking of butchness and lesbian masculinity.

I'm really gonna need people who claim to care about gender inclusion on sports to stop saying "trans people" or "trans kids" when they mean trans women and girls.
Just for example before anyone gets annoying about this:
These are direct from the WKF (world karate federation) "Transgender Rules" document.
Here are there requirements for trans men to compete in men's divisions:
Obviously annoying but basically they're asking for a doctor's note that says go for it and that's it.
In contrast, these are the rules for trans women:
(yes it spans 2 pages) They are demanding that any trans woman who ever wants to compete at any level have transitioned hormonally before the age of TWELVE. They're looking for invasive information about someone's puberty stages (which if any girl was able to transition that young, what are the odds she can prove it??). They require regular testosterone testing and require you to be at a level under that of some cis women FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. This policy clearly is designed to make sure that trans women will never be able to compete in women's divisions; these standards are simply unrealistic and absurd. And I didn't even include all the rhetorical justifications earlier in the document about all the biological advantages "males" supposedly have.
By the way, this doesn't only apply to the sparring competition (which is "skin contact" not full contact fighting), but also to the kata (forms) competition which is entirely non-contact and truly has no need to be gender divided in the first place. And this isn't even a professional league—it's all amateur except for an handful of people with sponsorships. It's not even an Olympic sport except for once in 2021.
If you truly cannot see a disparity here or you feel like justifying this in any possible way then you are not an ally to trans women and you don't actually believe in gender inclusive sports. This is what structural transmisogyny looks like, and this is why we need to be fighting specifically for trans women and girls and not just "trans people" generally.
what did we do to deserve portal 2. that shit was so good and for what
