need more queer books in your life? mad at all the book bans? wish you could read books about people actually like you?

the Queer Books Database is a free, online searchable database that lists queer rep in over 2,500 fiction and 500 non-fiction books! you can filter by age, genre, year, and specific identity–including race, disability, mental illness, and neurodivergence

here’s some ideas of what you can search for:

    • a legal thriller featuring a bisexual transgender woman or a sci-fi with a disabled black gay man
    • Young Adult, Middle Grade, and Children’s books in both fiction and non-fiction titles
    • classic queer lit from 1872 to 1956 (Carmilla to Giovanni’s Room)
    • biographies of famous historical and modern activists, musicians, athletes, immigrants, and writers
    • supportive spiritual texts and guidance from community leaders (filter by fifteen different religions!)
    • representation for LGBT identities under the “plus,” characters of color, fat rep, neurodivergence, older characters, questioning and closeted characters, religious identity, disabled characters–and more!

check with your local library to find these titles or ask about Inter-Library Loans to grab one from a library nearby! this really helps support libraries, authors, and me, an autistic transgender librarian :)

guys its a wonderful life was literally such an anticapitalist masterpiece that the FBI claimed it was communist propaganda and under investigation they found the movie “deliberately maligned the upper class, attempting to show the people who had money were mean and despicable characters.“

in one scene the main character george bailey is vouching for someone trying to buy a house outside the slums & the antagonist mr potter is like “u need to stop filling their heads with impossible ideas, the working class needs to be thrifty” (all while hoarding an insane amount of wealth) and george slams him w this

    image

he really said the rich view the working class as cattle and that bitch was right!!!!! say It louder!!!!!

merry christmas to george bailey, my “fuck the bourgeoise” queen <3

I think one of my favorite things about the Knives Out movies, as so many have pointed out, is that Benoit Blanc isn’t really the protagonist. He’s the world-class detective, famous for solving unsolvable cases, yes, and he plays a majorly important role in each story we see him in, also true, but he’s not REALLY the person we’re following. So we don’t know much about him PERSONALLY, we just know what our actual protagonists (Marta, Helen/Andi, Jud) can garner about him in the time they know and work with him.

And all this to say, I’m truly OBSESSED with the little bits of information we DO get about Benoit as a person. He’s into fashion, he’s in a relationship with a man named Phillip, he’s terrible at mystery games, he isn’t religious (and we can safely assume that stems from childhood trauma around being a queer, southern man in the church…), and he likes musicals.

Like what a fun little collection of facts to know about him. He was listening to Cats in the car with Jud. He knows how to play Phantom of the Opera on the organ. He has seasonal wardrobes. He’s terrible at mystery themed games (i.e., Clue, Among Us).

What little treasure of information will we learn about him in the next one?? I’m excited to find out.

why is it that ppl hear “fetish” and immediately think “devoid of morals” like ur genuinely not making sense. ppl dont actually become inhuman and beast-like when theyre turned on, thats something we are told bc it aligns with christian patriarcal values, u know that right? desire isnt actually bad. it doesnt make you evil, or incapable of having/respecting boundaries

i got a response to this abt how men get horny and “lose their minds” and “causes” them to behave vile. i rlly rlly neeeeed ppl to understand that men behaving inappropriately when turned on is something they are *choosing* to do, and when you equate that to human nature you are enabling them and diminishing the seriousness of that choice

i know we all love that post about “world famous detective” not being a real type of celebrity but lets be real if benoit blanc was real and sluttily fagging it up everywhere constantly in the news n making fools out of the cops n shit we’d all eat that up crazy style. it’d be like the chocolate guy but for exposing rich people for being assholes

AAAA IM SCARED THATS MY TIKTOK I DID NOT EXPECT TO SEE IT ON TUMBLR

(Thank you tho I’m glad you liked it)

The discussion in the comments was a breath of fresh air! I really enjoyed it

Women are comfortable “being weak and needing a man?” They like “being bad a driving?” Is this post from 1973?

You remember seeing any “I’m just a girl” type stuff? Girl math, girl dinner, I can’t help it I’m just a girlie I need my treats and trinkets, I need a boyfriend to open jars and kill spiders for me, etc. I have a coworker who refuses to learn how to drive bc she figures her husband will always be available to drive her around. This isn’t from 1973, it’s happening now.

    4. the character’s fetish and i’m committed to portraying them with absolute accuracy
