Whooooooah I found the sketches for what would have been (part of) the next MouseTrap update if I hadn’t gotten frustrated with myself and abandoned it.
It was fun to think of tiny sharp things for the peasants to use as weapons. The rats invading the town at the beginning got all their stuff from a sewing kit so most of the low-level dudes use pins, and the big boss rat dual wielded a couple of heavy duty sewing needles.

Tried to sign up for ArtSlam but the damn Disqus comment stuff wouldn’t load for me, soooooo I guess I’m just doing it unofficially.
Trying to just brute force my way out of this awful art block, so I’m focusing on Canon Fodder since the idea side of it’s pretty solid.
[edit] Oh wow the colors in this are super super dull on my laptop :\ I really need to recalibrate my mac’s monitor [/edit]

It’s been quite a while since I’ve drawn any fanart and I’ve been quite short on time lately so this was my only submission to the track art contest
I’m sure my chances of getting chosen are pretty slim but I’m happy with how this came out none the less, Jane’s a cutie pie.
My stepdad’s got a gift exchange thing at work tomorrow. He wrapped his gift in brown paper and asked me to doodle stuff on it. Just a heads up to my friends and family; if you ask me to draw things for you and don’t specify what you want you will probably get some variation on this theme.

Alright I told myself I wasn’t going to do this challenge since I’m going to be rather busy for most of December but whelp!
There’s basically no way I’d be able to pick a single favorite for most of these days so I’m not even going to try.
[EDIT] Oh here’s the challenge post for anyone who might have missed it [/edit]

Tumblr if no one else makes this reference by the time I get home and can draw it properly I will be very, very disappointed in you

This is pretty old (like over a year) but I came across it when I was digging through my art folder and I…don’t hate it?
Madness!
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that it’s not drawn in my usual style, and my perpetual love of rayguns.
Anyway, for one of the last assignments in my concept art class we redesigned the cast of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. I can’t quite remember how I ended up with this pulp novel/comic book cover thing.
[edit] Aaaaaaand I’ve posted this to the wrong blog twice now so fuck it, sorry, it’s staying here. [/edit]
Should probably reblog this over here for posterity’s sake. Sorry if you’ve already seen this!

As promised, these are the thumbnail sketches I did for my first project in my Directed Projects class, which is sort of like an independent study. I took them a step further and turned them into color studies to help me decide which to move forward with.
1 and 3 are the ones I’m favoring taking to finish, since I’d like something portfolio-worthy (as usual). I’m not keen on 2 on account of the stylization, though it’d be worth pursuing another time, and 4 makes a nice study, but probably not a very exciting finished piece.
Thoughts?
Aha, I always babble too much for the reply boxes….
Personally I like #1. As other people have said 3 is dynamic and dramatic but it feels like an image I’ve seen tons of times before (though I like those gnarly dead trees a lot). If I were looking through someone’s portfolio I don’t think an image like #3 would really stick in my memory, whereas #1 could.
The closer, more intimate framing of the scene in #1 is more interesting and I feel like it could say a lot about the character and her environment, whereas 3 is just a sort of generic mage being badass. I also like how the first thumbnail has this eerie, sort of ominous feel with the color scheme and backlighting, but the witch girl looks so relaxed and casual rather than overtly menacing.
Uh…..I guess that was just a really roundabout way of saying I think the first one is really great \o/

When I clicked over to post this there were three new likes on one of those pictures from last week and I got all excited but they were all from spam blogs :c
Anyway I’ve entered another loathing-everthing-I-draw phase so I shelved the Gunnerkrigg fan art I was working on(wouldn’t have had time to finish it anyway) and did a stupid self-indulgent fan-Krampine instead. Colonymired is neat, I should draw some actual fanart when I don’t feel like burning all my pencils. I have the most inconsistent art ever.
((((Pretty sure Punch-drunk and Will-o-Wisp are both suppose to be hyphenated, which is probably cheating re:[PW]. Shame on you young lady.))))

These are old! Like almost a year old! I am the worst at scanning things.
They were for Harvey James’s Choose A Cat, Draw A Girl thing, but I got super busy with work so I didn’t have time to finish them up and then just sort of forgot about them I guess whoops
They were all drawn separately but they sort of look like they’re having a dance party when I shove them all together like this.
