🌟 Tourette Awareness Month Post 🌟
So, since it's Tourette Awareness Month, I wanted to share something that happened to me related to my tics.
I was gaming with two friends. One of them suggested some random game, and while we were playing, I started having vocal tics.
Friend 1 goes:
"What’s that woman’s voice? Is that coming from the game?"
Friend 2 says:
"I didn’t notice anything."
Later on, Friend 2 is like:
"Oh yeah, it must be from the game."
Then Friend 1 says:
"No, it’s coming from Panda (me). I just realized after looking at your profile picture—it looked like the voice came from you."
Friend 2:
"That sounded like a woman. Do you have some woman talking next to you or something?"
Me:
"Nope. There's no woman here."
But neither of them believed me. They both kept insisting that I had some woman nearby talking.
This is just one example of what having Tourette’s can look like. Sometimes vocal tics are misunderstood, dismissed, or not taken seriously. It’s frustrating when people don’t believe you—even when you explain.
