Mostly on people he did not care for, he was ashamed of admitting that the most damage - or the only one he cared for - was the one he’d done to the people he loved. Barty had never learned how to love. His mother had tried to teach him, but it had been overshadowed by his father’s indifference. Barty’s love had teeth. It bit anyone who dared come close enough. There had never been a person Barty loved that he hadn’t hurt. He’d done it to his mother when she didn’t deserve to bear the anger he held for his father. He’d done it to Regulus when he needed to let his frustration out during their teenage years. Until Evan. Barty refused to do the same to him. He couldn’t. Not to Evan. Not now that he finally had him where he wanted him.

Some Regulus thoughts because that boy lives rent free in my head.
I honestly dislike when he is characterized as a poor abandoned puppy that was just lost in life and crying at the smallest inconvenience because that's just not my Regulus.
For me, that boy was actually an amazing brain. I view him as a morally grey person to the core; my head canon is that actually, unlike the opinions that he genuinely felt bad for the muggles, he just didn't care. For me Regulus would just view himself superior to most and couldn't care less about who's dying. He wouldn't actually want to go out of his way to kill them, but he wouldn't feel bad for it either. I feel like he would be the kind of person that wouldn't give a shit until things actually touch him.
He canonically cared for his house elf and since they are technically at the very bottom, like even muggle born witches and wizards disrespects them, in my mind the whole blood purity thing wouldn't matter to him. Considering the headcanon that he's friend with Dorcas, Pandora, Barty and Evan for me Regulus would actually judge based on the power abilities. And that's what I think he was seeking by following Voldemort.
For me, he wanted power. I don't think of him as a Voldemort fanboy because once again I just view Regulus as someone who is too proud for that. Boy was a black; the idea of him following someone, even the dark lord himself, with heart shaped eyes gives me the irk. He admired him; admired his power, followers and the fact that people were scared of him, for sure, but not to the point where he was loyal or anything of the kind.
Regulus wasn't forced to follow Voldemort, he choosed to because yes that man is a monster but he's still a great wizard. And honestly? Fair.
And because of all of those reasons when Voldenort touched something that was his, one of his properties, someone he actually cared about, Regulus betrayed him. Because in the end the boy is a black, not some small little doll you can play with and toss around afterwards. That was a direct insult to him and to his name, and I don't see him letting that slide.
He was obviously intelligent, and I prefer thinking that he figured the whole horcruxes thing himself. And his letter just...go with that idea I have of Regulus so much.
I love when he's written like a martyr, don't get me wrong, but dark Regulus just hit different. Regulus who IS the prince and Slytherin and embraces that position. The 'baby black' surname is really really cute of course, but I can't imagine him letting that slide from anyone who isn't one of his direct friends. And, for some reason, I also feel like he wouldn't like Snape. Not for the same reasons as Sirius (Even if I do think that the fact Sirius hates him would also affect his opinion, because even with all that in my mind he'd still genuinely live his brother. At least in secret), but just...still not like him. Probably recognizing his talent, and who knows even sharing the same circles when Snape was with Lucius, but just keeping his distance from him because there is no world where they would be friends.
In conclusion, for me Reg is a badass that actually only does what HE wants when HE wants.

The marauders never knew just how batshit crazy the skittles were. They had only heard some rumors but never truly saw their antics, I mean sure they had heard that one of them had set the lab on fire, or the other slept with half the school, or even that they poisoned slug horn. Yet never the fights, the weed, the insane things that thy consider normal. Especially Sirius, he expected his goody two shoes brother's friends to be pretentious assholes.
Cut to when jegulus started dating, the two friend groups started to interact, and that's when they saw how crazy they were. It started as everyone was sitting in the Slytherin common room, then out of nowhere barges on barty and Pandora cackling while running away from something, that's when Evan who was standing closest to the door quickly shut it with a shit eating grin. Regulus let out an exasperated sigh and then Dorcas with a subtle smirk "what'd you two do this time?" And with the most terrifying grin Pandora, sweet, sweet Pandora said in the most soft voice "we jinxed Snape then we lit the classroom on fire" Regulus then just smiled and said "awww thank guys you didn't have to" in the most sarcastic tone despite his smile.
Yeah, that was another thing about the skittles, they were OVERprotective, those guys would kill for each other if the occasion arise. The marauders saw a lot of their antics, from laughing as thy jinx or curse someone, to smoking weed in the perfect's room and playing tag (ON THE EDGE OF THE ASTRONOMY TOWER) but what tops the disastrous cake is when they saw just to which extent their cruelty reaches.
It started with a commotion in the halls, Remus was the first to arrive, then Sirius, and oh was he shocked. He saw his little cousin, HIS LITTLE COUSIN narcissa being hugged by Pandora, while barty absolutely beats the living shit out of Mulciber and Lucius. He looked manic, nose and lip bleeding, but he had this crazed look in his eyes, and a grin of pure evil. All while Evan is smirking at him and Regulus and Dorcas apply healing charms on Mulciber and Lucius so they wouldn't pass out. They were all laughing, Regulus. Was. Laughing. Maniacally. Then narcissa comes up to Regulus and whispers something in his ear. "That's enough barty" he then says. Barty, the fucking maniac seems reluctant to back off until Evan quite literally pulls him off and throws him over his shoulder. Regulus walks menacingly towards the two assholes on the floor, "I'll say this once and once only, you talk like that about my cousin or touch her without her consent one more time and we'll cut you tiny dicks off to shove them so far down your throats till they come out your ass with your shitty personality, got it? " they just nod while the deemed "skittles" saunder off.
Sirius wanted to rip his hair out, james was beyond turned on, Peter looked traumatized while lily was chuckling and Remus looked amused.
Another incident was when both groups were sitting together and a Raven claw came up to then. He was eyeing lily and Dorcas weirdly. "Hey ladies, how about you and I leave those losers alone and have some fun? " they looked beyond uncomfortable, "no thanks mate we're not into that." The guy frowned "I promise you won't regret it, I've got a way with girls". " look pal, they said they weren't interested " snarled barty. "Says the person who slept with half the school, shut up whor-" before he even finishes, he was on the floor, a livid Evan looming over him. "Fucking scum, let's leave"
It took about a week and a half of James and Regulus dating before the marauders realized how fucking batshit crazy they were.
If a scene feels flat and you can't figure it out, ask yourself:
• What can MC smell? Is there an ocean breeze, sweat, a cinnamon roll fresh out the oven?
• What can MC hear, besides the dialogue? Is a bird singing, river flowing, a car speeding, clock ticking?
• Can they taste something, even if they're not eating? Previously drunk alcohol or juice, aftertaste of a cigarette, smog, too instense perfume?
• Can they feel something on their skin? Rough clothes or delicate material, blowing wind, an allergy or a rash, grass that theyre laying on?
• What does the character see, besides other characters? Is the room dark or is sunlight coming in nicely? Are the colours vibrant or dull? Are there any plants?
• What's the weather? Is it snowing and the cold is making goosebumps appear on their arms? Is it hot and sweaty and clothes are clinging to their body?
• HOW DOES IT MAKE THEM FEEL? To any of the above.
Do they like the smell of cinnamon rolls or are they weirdos (I'm a weirdo, I don't fit in).
Does the clock ticking calm them down or annoy them?
Do they enjoy the aftertaste of a cig and like how dirty it makes them feel?
Are they sensitive to touch and how their clothing feels on their skin or are they indifferent?
Would they enjoy the scenery more if it was more sunny out, because they're afraid of the darkness?
Do they like it snowy or are they always cold and hate winter?
Come on, give them persoanlity, likes and dislikes, don't be scared to make them people and not only likeable characters.
