FEATURING: zenin naoya x fem!reader

SUMMARY: you are six years old when you’re betrothed to zenin naoya. you don’t believe in love at first sight, but he has proved to you that hatred at first sight does indeed exist. you have ten years to get out of this arrangement—the clock is ticking.

WARNINGS: fem!reader. canon compliant (MCD accordingly, not in this part tho). i took some liberty with 1) zenin clan relationships and 2) cursed energy lore for reader’s technique. naoya is his own warning—he’s gonna give you a lot of whiplash. heavily implied abuse (naobito->naoya). toxic relationship (i stress, toxic relationship). misogyny (obviously). moments of misandry from reader. reader & naoya are quick to turn to violence when they’re kids 💀 they fight a lot. liberal use of bitch (naoya to reader). asshole 4 asshole (naoya sucks, so does reader—the crux of their relationship is that they’re both so intolerable they can only tolerate each other). as always with my fics, reader has personality & background. I think I’m missing some warnings, pls tell me if you catch anything I missed, there are a lot LOL

  • AUTHOR’S NOTE: guys get this man AWAY FROM ME!!!!!! This is gonna be a 3 part fic: this first part is set from ages 6-15, part 2 will be ages 18-20, part 3 will be 21 to canon. Sighs so heavily ………… I hope you all enjoy, I did have a lot of fun writing this, they were quite fun to write for me. I took some liberties with Naoya’s childhood because as we know, the Zenin’s suck, and even being their golden boy, I highly doubt he was totally exempt from all of it when abuse is so engrained into the clan the way it is. Anyway, I unfortunately doubt this mini series will be the last of my fics for him, because I do want to explore a dynamic where reader meets him when he’s older, because it would be MUCH different. almost everything about their dynamics/relationship is the way it is BECAUSE they met when they were so young, and I’d like to explore a more “canonically accurate” naoya (not to say this one isn’t, but it’s obviously very different circumstances). She is a bit icky though. She promoted her book by using Breonna Taylor’s death saying she ‘hoped the cover reveal was a bit of light for you guys given the appalling lack of justice for Breonna Taylor’ which is not great. In the same post she does go on to encourage her fans to vote (and implies against Trump) but it was just a really tone deaf post as a whole

thank you for approaching me kindly and giving me more insight!! ru also explained to me and i do understand better now. i couldn’t have known these things since as i stated in previous post/answer i don’t follow sjm on social platforms, i’ve not read any news or interviews with and about her and i know very little about her in general :,) prev anon could’ve done the same and backed up their statement but to each their own. i guess they got a bit upset with me since i stayed silent just bc i genuinely didn’t know and that might’ve given them some ground, even baseless like i might’ve not seen their asks to begin with, to judge me. nothing excuses their hostility toward me though. ppl are very quick to jump to conclusions and attack others here especially on anon :,) now about sjm….with these things being brought to my attention i am disappointed i can’t lie, it is like a slap in the face i had no idea :,)

😭😭😭 i simply picked a series bc it is popular and ppl talk about it a lot so i got curious and wanted to check it out myself. i do not know if your claims are true or just a speculation based on online discourse bc of her religion???? can you provide me clear and actual evidence that she is a zionist and racist and not just conclusions netizens draw? i know very little about the author — i did not do prior background research and i do not follow sjm on social media, acotar series in fact is the first work of hers i am reading. i did a quick (quick! not thorough!) google search after you sent me the first two asks yesterday and couldn’t find actual proof of what you’re accusing her of, just online criticism which is why i ignored your asks bc i wasn’t sure and i didn’t want to stain anyone’s name here and honestly i haven’t been much on tumblr as of late save for popping up shortly just to dip again. but your tone is rubbing me the wrong way now because you are accusing ME of being something i am NOT

cas bby yes english isn’t my first language! i would say i have two first languages haha bc i was born and grew up in an environment that speaks both turkish and bulgarian in their day to day so i learned them simultaneously and ever since i know myself ive known how to speak both 🥹

acotar is my first sjm series and i love it SO much so far that i’m a bit scared that i’m reading it so fast and once i’m done i will be miserable until the 6th book comes out 🤧 throne of glass is in my tbr list !!! and i will most likely start it sometime in february/march bc i have other books planned before that if they are delivered to me timely UNLESS i become completely addicted to sjm universe by the end of acotar and make some changes in my schedule just to be winnowed into her universe once more HAHAH (quite plausible tbh) i might as well start crescent city after that too 🥹 i am just so SO in love with the way she writes like idk what she’s doing but i feel like i am a cat and her books are like catnip to me 😭😭
