i’ve always thought that people saying things like women are angels, goddesses, or pure is still a form of dehumanization. it sounds positive but it strips women of being seen as human. it places us somewhere above reality, where flaws, anger, desire, and contradictions aren’t allowed. but women are human, and being idealized doesn’t change that. whether women are reduced to objects or elevated to something untouchable, the result is the same. we aren’t seen as real people. women not being recognized as fully human is the baseline problem in society.

it reminds me of how we call evil men monsters or animals instead of just men. in both cases, we remove humanity to avoid dealing with reality. once you remove humanity, you remove accountability. idealization and demonization are a bit similar
