I've posted before about how Monica's experience coming back from being Blipped is just brutal.

Yelena's is just as painful to watch 💔🥺😭💔

Framing the entire experience (being Blipped and then through to returning) from Yelena's perspective really drives home just how disorienting and confusing it is for the victims... And then we see the realization dawn and Yelena says "I need to find Natasha. Will you help me find Natasha? I need to tell her I'm okay."

😭💔😭💔😭

Just finished rewatching Wakanda Forever, and I'd almost forgotten just how good this movie is!

I had d forgotten how long it is - looked at the runtime when I started it and was like "oh dang" 😂 But the pacing was excellent - the extra half hour really helped so all the many different character introductions and plot elements had time to breathe.

I've seen all the discussions about how King T'Challa should have been recast, and I for one am not opposed to recasting in general. However, in this case, I'm glad they didn't. Chadwick Boseman was, by all accounts, a really good guy. His death being so sudden, the circumstances being so tragic, and the details of all the service he had done and wanted to have continued even after his death, coupled with the fact that all this went down during COVID when everything was just awful, made his loss cut that much deeper. I think the creatives made the right decision to have fiction reflect reality (at least a little bit) in this case, as it allowed his fanbase to mourn him through the story. And this helped the story hold a LOT more weight than it otherwise might have. Plus, it was a decent way to transition the Black Panther mantle on to other characters.

I've also seen the discussions about how Shuri shouldn't have been the next Black Panther. Personally, I think Letitia Wright did a great job stepping into a more prominent role, especially depicting the struggle Shuri was experiencing after having been Blipped and come back only to suffer multiple tragic losses one right after the other AND feel responsible for not preventing these losses somehow. It also helped that there were plenty of other characters who needed time in the spotlight and they were given their due as well, which allowed for the really strong cast to shine overall.

On a related note, I'm glad the story focused on Shuri rather than Nakia, simply because Shuri losing her entire family rather quickly AND feeling the immense pressure due to being the last living member of the royal family (that she was aware of) served as a clearer focal point for the themes the movie tackled.

(Just have to say, it was a stroke of genius to have N'Jadaka in Shuri's initial vision. Perfectly correlated with Shuri's beliefs and emotions at that time; and also made her later vision of Ramonda hit that much harder 😭)

I also have to applaud Marvel for having 2 projects that deal heavily in grief and loss (WandaVision and Wakanda Forever) and doing a phenomenal job with both of them.

The Anne of Green Gables series has been a favorite of mine since childhood. I've lost count of how many times I've read it over the years. And I always start Rilla of Ingleside thinking I'll get through it without crying.

I'm always wrong 😭💔😭💔😭💔

the real reason that it took multiple years for Obi-Wan's ghost to direct Luke to Dagobah for further training with Yoda was that Yoda failed to actually tell Obi-Wan where he was planning to go into hiding when they parted at the end of RotS, so Obi-Wan had to spend about a year tracking Yoda down in the Force so he could ask, and then convince Yoda to actually tell him what planet he's on

this takes a while, because it turns out that Yoda is reluctant to admit that he doesn't actually know the name of the planet he's hiding on, because he let the Force guide him to a suitable place for his exile and didn't think to double check the coordinates he entered

once Obi-Wan gets over the impulse to tear out his ghostly hair, he resolves to just check the navigational computer in Yoda's ship to find the coordinates

unfortunately, Yoda admits that he sank the ship he arrived on in the swamp a month after he landed and built his hut

Obi-Wan decides that that's fine actually, since he's a Force ghost and no longer needs to breath and can just go down to the ship to check the logs regardless of its current location

except that the ship has been submerged in the swamp for about 20 years at this point, and the ship has no power, and the computer has been totally waterlogged

at this point, Obi-Wan spends another entire year so furiously frustrated that he is unable to marshal the focus needed to manifest as a Force Ghost at all

once he finally calms down, he spots and identifies a unique subspecies of worm that lives in the swamp, and is able to use the power of his lifelong special interest in worms to instantly determine what planet they're on

he resolves never to tell Luke about any of this, instead insisting that Luke simply wasn't ready yet before he made contact during the battle on Hoth

(it's worth noting that Qui-Gon knew they were on Dagobah the entire time, but didn't speak up because he thought it was funny he was confident that his Padawan would figure it out eventually on his own)

Headcanon. Instantly. Accepted. 😂

Allow me to start this post by pointing out things I like about Multiverse of Madness:

- Dr. Strange and Wong are always great

- America Chavez's introduction

- the music note fight scene

- I have no idea who Clea is (I'm not a big comics reader) but she looks super cool and I'm looking forward to seeing more of her in future stories

.......

Now, onto the consideration that puts Multiverse of Madness near the very bottom of my MCU rankings list:

Namely, the blatant character assassination of Earth-616's Wanda Maximoff.

What makes this most egregious is that there were SO. MANY. WAYS. the movie could have used Scarlet Witch as a villain without completely ruining her character.

Because the thing is, putting it in the most basic terms, Wanda's story in MoM is about the Darkhold corrupting her to the point that she wants to steal away a Billy/Tommy at any cost since she wants to be happy, gosh darn it; and when Billy/Tommy's terror forcibly wakes her up to the truth of the situation, she fixes her mistakes by destroying the Darkhold and (maybe?) herself along with it. But there are so many missteps with her character along the way, it's almost like the movie's creators didn't take the time to fully watch, much less appreciate, the character nuances leading up to and including WandaVision (🙄).

Here are just a few examples, off the top of my head, of what could have been tweaked to make Wanda's depiction here more of a natural progression of what had come before:

▪️Heck, just explaining the Darkhold better would have been a major step in the right direction. Both WandaVision and MoM brush over the fact that the book is practically a sentient entity that actively corrupts its readers. A few blink-and-you'll-miss-them throwaway lines were NOT sufficient to describe or explain Wanda's complete 180 shift between the ending of WandaVision and what we see in MoM (I myself rather missed the relevance of those MoM lines the first time around and ended up having to look up a wikipedia explanation of the Darkhold to finally understand what was up with that stupid book). So as it stands, we're left with a bunch of viewers who go to town with the argument that Wanda was a villain all along, implying that she is deliberately making all these bad choices while in her right mind, when she's very much not in her right mind.

(Allow me to also point out the TOTAL missed opportunity to use the scene of Professor X entering Wanda's mind to depict our Wanda's mental state while under the influence of the Darkhold. Sigh.)

Combine this lack of explanation with the fact that our Dr. Strange uses the Darkhold and comes out still a hero (albeit with an extra eye), and it's sadly easy to see why so many people downplay, if not outright ignore, the Darkhold's role in Wanda's downfall.

▪️ Have our Wanda be plagued with nightmares of Billy and Tommy dying/in danger in multiple universes. Instead of trying to steal her children away from an already loving household, have her believe she's saving them - which would also explain why she wants America's powers, because she wants to save all the Billys and Tommys who are in danger. This would also reiterate the twisted and corruptive properties of the Darkhold, which turns her dreams into these nightmares. And the "change of heart" scene would still work, when she realizes her children are already safe with their own Wanda.

▪️ Reveal near the end that the Wanda who Dr. Strange approached was actually a Wanda/Scarlet Witch from another universe who came to Earth-616 and pretended to be "our" Wanda. Maybe "our" Wanda would find out what was going on and join the fight to help turn the villain Wanda around.

▪️ As an alternative to the above, have an evil Wanda/Scarlet Witch in an alternate universe use our Wanda to Dreamwalk and chase after America that way. Our Wanda wouldn't actually be evil and would have to grapple with the idea that a version of herself could be that evil (and I'm sure some viewers who thought Wanda didn't get her comeuppance after Westview might be satisfied knowing Wanda experienced being controlled).

Again, these are just a few ideas off the top of my head.

Instead, the "Wanda is an irredeemable villain!" talk continues, bolstered by this travesty of a storyline, and I'm left here to mourn the absolute lack of nuance and often blatant misinterpretations in discussions of one of the most complex heroes/antiheroes in the MCU.

I’m still genuinely mad that CX-2 wasn’t Tech. FYM he’s actually dead? like he’s gone gone? he’s not living a peaceful life on Pabu with his brothers, growing old and getting grey hair? FYM he doesn’t hobble around with a little cane, mumbling about whatever adjustments he can make to Omega’s ship???

I'm still mad about season 3 in both these respects - failing Tech and failing the CX clones. Easiest option to resolve both these plot points would have been for Tech to be CX2, of course; but they had SO. MANY. OTHER. OPTIONS to satisfactorily address both plot points. And they didn't go with any of them.

In the meantime... I'm still convinced Tech is still alive. As far as current canon goes, he just hasn't been found yet. As far as my own canon-compliant stories/headcanons go, he's been found and he's safe back on Pabu helping Omega build her ship. I've even imagined him with a cane!

I think they wrote the 3rd season of The Bad Batch to have more episodes, and then somewhere during production they were told it had to be fewer. I mean, that whole season, it was setting up that CX-2 would be some grand reveal, and then the last couple episodes were rushed and they had to deal with it quickly. And the quickest way (not best--quickest) to "resolve" everything was just to kill him and leave Tech dead.

I think I even read somewhere that it was the original plan for Tech to be CX-2, and then they had to scrap that because of the time crunch that was thrown at them last minute. I honestly think they might've intended for there to be a whole other season with the can of worms Tech's reappearance would've opened.

It would arguably have been 1000x better to let Tech live. I mean, I know the whole resurrection trope was getting old (especially in Marvel), but this is one of those times it would've made so much sense if he came back. And it was set up so well.

And also Tech is just a beloved character. So I'm always gonna want him back.

I will forever write fics where Tech lives and no one can stop me 😤

YES. To all of this. Especially the part where you mention that it would have made so much sense for him to come back. Even now, after multiple rewatches, the only way season 3's handling of Tech makes any sense whatsoever is when I view it through the lens of the writers originally setting up for a return and/or leaving leeway for him to eventually return. (It's that, or the writers/creators were deliberately/knowingly being outright cruel to the audience. I tend to go for the former explanation.)

So - yeah, I'll be joining you in always and forever writing fics where Tech is alive!!! Because he IS, gosh darn it!

Guys, I get the “EVERY non-clone hates and abuses clones” thing but I think you’re missing out on the angst potential of “the good ones that file complaints or make a fuss about the way clones are treated are quietly shuffled out of the way and the clones lose anyone that treats them well,” which further isolates the Jedi and has the additional benefit for Tarkin of of weeding out any conscientious officers prior to the Empire.

We even have a scene in Bad Batch where one of the officers tries to speak up for the clones when Hemlock proposed experimenting on all of them. The officer doesn't protest very strongly, of course, and pretty much gives up as soon as Tarkin argues; but I very much believe there were people - even in high places - who did genuinely respect the clones.

I try to come into movies with few to no expectations, I really do. Especially when it's clear a franchise is trying to kinda do a soft reboot on a character, like No Way Home was doing for Spiderman.

That being said... If MJ x Tom!Peter is not at least potentially set up to be endgame in Brand New Day, I'm gonna be soooooooo upset.

(I mean, come on, MJ was begging Peter to come back and make her remember, let it happen!!! 🙏)

So funny story: when No Way Home was coming out, I had heard the rumors about Andrew Garfield coming back, but also saw all the interviews where he was vehemently denying his involvement. And so, not wanting to be disappointed, I went into the movie fully expecting him to not show up.

So when he DID show up, in the midst of my excited cheering, the number one thought circling through my mind was "Andrew you LIAR!!!"

I have never believed any pre-project-release actor interviews since 😂
