Little Khalil has been injured after the lOF rigged a nearby house to explode. Then while seeking shelter, the lOF fired gas canisters at them. They were unable to escape the gas, and now Joan is struggling to breathe!

Today we took our little boy to the hospital because he has two holes in his heart, which affects his breathing and causes him pain. An update on Ahmed's condition today, April 8, 2025. He also has problems with his optic nerve, which causes problems with his vision and he needs surgery. Ahmed has not had the surgery yet due to the high costs of the operation..We are now stuck in Egypt as a result of the devastating war in Gaza. It is worth noting that I traveled to Egypt for treatment and to give birth before the war, and life became very difficult and the costs were high for us, and we do not have the money. 6-year-old Joan Al-Habil is has been repeatedly hospitalized due to severe gastrointestinal problems and overwhelming fatigue. This poor girl has been to multiple facilities and seen multiple doctors, undergone extensive testing (as extensive as is possible in Gaza's collapsed medical system), even having to endure an unsedated endoscopy.

She has now been diagnosed with severe gastritis due to starvation and hazardous living conditions. Remember, she and her family are living on the streets, which are cold and wet due to winter rain. Homelessness, stress, exposure to the elements, her previous injury when the lOF firebombed her tent, and malnutrition all conspire to sap little Joan of her strength.

Her condition is so serious that she even had to undergo surgery. Gastritis very rarely requires surgery to treat, so this is an indication of how dire her condition is. The surgery was successful to a degree, but she is going to need ongoing treatment to manage her symptoms.

The treatments are administered weekly and cost $500 USD (just under €500 EUR). Her family has no income and cannot afford this. If Joan goes more than a few days without treatment, her symptoms worsen rapidly, and she sometimes has to be hospitalized. It is vital that we help her family procure her treatments so that her condition does not worsen!

Imagine being born into a world where the first sounds you hear are explosions, the hum of drones, and the cries of your family fleeing for their lives. This is the reality for Habiba Al-Qazzaz, a precious baby girl who has known nothing but war, displacement, and hunger in her short life. Born in Gaza amidst the ongoing conflict that began on October 7, 2023, Habiba has spent much of her existence so far in uncertainty, hunger, and fear.

This precious little girl is not even a year old, and already, she has suffered through unimaginable hardship.

Her parents, Hossam and Hanan Al-Qazzaz, are doing everything they can to care for Habiba and her three siblings—Bashar (9), Hani (8), and Diana (4). But the relentless devastation of Gaza’s infrastructure has made survival nearly impossible. With no stable income and essential supplies priced beyond reach, the Al-Qazzaz family is fighting a daily battle just to keep their children warm, fed, and safe.

Their GoFundMe campaign has been their only lifeline, allowing them to afford the most basic necessities—food, water, milk for Habiba. Yet despite the thousands of people who have seen and shared their plea, donations have been coming in at a painfully slow pace. Since last year, they have managed to raise only €2,000, an amount tragically short of their €55,000 goal—the sum they had hoped would allow them to evacuate to Egypt with Hossam’s elderly parents and start anew.

Forced to Live on Top of Rubble

As time passed and donations fell short, the family was forced to abandon their dreams of escape. Instead, they now live atop the ruins of their destroyed home, sheltered only by a fragile tent that does little to protect them from the cold, roaming animals, or the ever-present danger of violence. Their reality is bleak, and their options are running out.

On February 8, 2025, Hanan reached out to us with an update on her family's condition:

The freezing temperatures persist. Her children are crying for warmth in a shelter that provides no protection from the elements.

This is Not a Call for Comfort—It’s a Plea for Survival!

Ibrahim is only fifteen years old, and this is the kind of things he has to deal with because of the occupation. He dreams of continuing his education, but this genocide has taken that from him. Ibrahim’s home, school, and the places he used to spend his time have been destroyed, and he has been displaced multiple times and lost many relatives in the bombings. No one should have to go through this, and especially not at his age.

On top of this, both of his parents suffer from health issues, which is scary enough for a child to experience even outside of a war zone where they can’t get adequate treatment.

Prices in Gaza are sky high for food, medications and other necessities, and evacuations are expensive too. If you can donate to Ibrahim’s campaign, you are helping this family survive until the border reopens, and making sure they can afford to leave when they have the chance.

We live in a dangerous area, where our lives are directly threatened by the heavy shelling in the area.
