[Transcription: Hi. It’s day 1000 of the war in Sudan.
I would say I was dreading this day but…after 1000 days, I’m a little numb.
For the last two weeks, I’ve been thinking about how to “commemorate” this day. And for a while I thought “Okay, I’m gonna do a renewed quick and dirty update or a quick and dirty explanation of the war in Sudan.”
But after 1000 days, I’m not gonna lie to you, something in my spirit said “Are you serious? You’re still explaining after 1000 days?”
I could sit here and rattle off stats.
12 million displaced…25 million in need of human intervention…over 500 thousand de—How is that helping?
I’ve decided to do the thing that has the most impact on the ground, on this day 1000 of war in Sudan: by fundraising.
I am here to fundraiser for two organizations that have shut down (or are on the brink).
Two organizations that feed thousands of people, hundreds of households, that have shut down because they don’t have the money to keep going.
I don’t have a goal. I just— I beg you to give…as much as you can, as little as you can, whatever you can. Because that means food in people’s bellies.
But I’ll put things in perspective for you:
Basmat Wasl, for example, needs around $3000 a month to sustain the community kitchens that they support.
Al Abbasia Community Kitchen feeds over 500 households plus, I believe, a nearby school. So, y’know, let’s say $3000.
Do I expect you to donate $6000? No, I’ll take anything. Literally, I will take anything.
Anything to give these two organizations and the people they serve the hope—just the hope—that they can keep going.
If by some miracle, we are able to raise a significant amount, I will split it between not only Basmat Wasl and and Al Abbasia Community Kitchen, but one or several of the hundreds of emergency response rooms that are litterally keeping people alive. That are the only barrier between their communities and death. And that is not an exaggeration.
On day 1000 of the war in Sudan, I am here to humbly ask you for help.
Whatever little, tangible help you can provide.]
The caption reads: If you prefer to donate directly to those orgs, you will find links to their fundraisers in my bio.
(Here (copied + pasted from her bio) you’ll find even more Sudanese campaigns for refugee assistance, displaced families, evacuating families, etc. to support!)
