New Guidelines

Hey y'all, this is Jasper! I am a nonbinary (they/them), aromantic, and asexual tarot reader. This side blog is explicitly only for tarot/oracle readings. As such, let's go over the rules.

If you want a free reading, you will follow the following rules in exchange for a free one-card draw. I would appreciate receiving feedback afterwards in exchange for the effort I put into these readings. Send reading requests through the ask box only.

All readings are posted publicly.

Here are all of the things I need for a reading:

  • your preferred name, nickname, or initials
  • your pronouns
  • your question
  • background information around your question

Here are what I need if your reading includes someone else:

  • their preferred name, nickname, or initials
  • their pronouns
  • background information on your relationship with this person

If no pronouns are provided, I will default to they/them pronouns.

If you want me to use a specific deck, send the deck name as listed on the page (this is because I often have decks with similar names). Otherwise, I will choose the deck myself. If you want me to use a particular deck or to avoid particular decks, let me know in the reading request. There is a chance I will pick a deck that I have given to a deity I worship, and they may provide commentary if or as they see fit.

Don't know what to ask? Check this tag of question examples!

However, I will NOT answer the following types of questions:

  • What does X think of me?” or “How does X feel about me?” (my decks will always tell you to just talk to them yourself)
  • yes/no questions (the divination systems I use are not good for that)
  • time-related or time-sensitive questions (your readings get answered when they get answered)
  • medical or legal questions as I am not a medical or legal person (don't fucking sue me)
  • future spouse readings (like it or not, there's a chance you could marry multiple people in the future, and you might not like any of them!)
  • readings about celebrities (I don't know who those people are)
  • entity identification readings (again, I don't know who those people are)
  • readings where I'm somehow supposed to choose your life decisions for you (do not ask me to pick your career or university or whatever)
  • anything I’m not comfortable answering
  • any readings that require me to somehow read minds

I am aromantic and asexual. If you want in-depth relationship readings, I am not the best tarot reader for that. I can give it a shot, but the answer to such a query is almost guaranteed to just come down to "talk to them or dump them since you can't talk to them" based on past times I've read for that sort of question.

I will not do readings for you if you misgender me.

Your questions will get answered when they get answered.

Hi Jasper! Happy new year! This is feedback from the last reading you did for me (something about a job where it was basically "wether you think you can or cant you're right") Just got a job interview with a company after 4 months of unemployment and barely any answers. They're a startup scaling up so plenty of opportunties of exploring the couple of domains i wanted to explore. Thank you for the reading, it helped <333

Hey Jasper, me again. I tried to rephrase the question, and I hope this one will be okay. My question is: How would my next interview go, and what could I do to secure it results in me getting a job? I don't have a preference for the deck. Thank you very much, Natalia, she/her, Taurus.

Good evening Natalia, welcome back to the ask box! I don't really need zodiac signs for readings, but I know a lot of tarot readers ask for them. For your reading, I've chosen the Moon & Stars Tarot by Jayne Wallace. Since this is two questions, I pulled one card for each, so we have the King of Swords reversed and the Seven of Cups reversed.

So, the King of Swords reversed is not a card you want to see as a "most likely outcome" card, since it represents the inverse of its keyword of knowledge. I believe the reading for this is that you shouldn't go in completely blind to any interview, as you'll have enough problems during it that it won't help. Research the interviewing process from the interviewee side and make sure you know what they can ask, what they can't, and how they can fish for information, stuff like that.

As for the advice card proper, we've got the Seven of Cups reversed, meaning that it's the inverse of the keyword of delusion. Try to enter the interview with confidence and don't be afraid to time some jokes. You can do the interview nervous, but do it regardless.

Best of luck to you Natalia, I hope the interview process goes well for you. If you feel so inclined, please feel free to send feedback in my ask box, leave feedback in a reblog of this reading, and/or reblog my reading guidelines!

Hello Jasper, I saw you are offering free readings, if this is still the case, I would like to know what awaits me in the last months of 2025 in terms of career (think of new job offers or getting promoted). I am currently unsatisfied with my current career life, and am doing my best to change it. Unfortunately, unsuccessfully. That is why I would like to know if the luck will be on my side, at least once. I do not have a preference for the deck, so please choose the one that you feel called to use. Thank you,and all the best to you. Ally, she/her

Good evening Ally, sorry for the delay on this reading. I'm not comfortable doing "here's what's going to happen FOR SURE in the future" style of readings, but I can give you a reading for a heads up or things to be aware of in that time frame, so that's kind of the angle I took. I used the Arcana of Astrology by Claire Goodchild, an oracle deck themed around, obviously, astrology. Your card is Sagittarius.

In this deck, Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter and its symbols are red flowers, sage, books, antlers, and horses. Its keywords are optimism, exploration, knowledge, commitment, religion, search, clingy, and irritable. I'm pretty sure those are keywords for the card rather than the zodiac sign.

This card is focused on something unrelated to work: It's focused on hobbies. It says that either you should get into some things that you've desperately been wanting to do, or that you're pulling yourself too thin and getting close to burnout. It's a card that somehow says that if work sucks, at least you have things outside of work to bring you joy. (Unfortunately, joy doesn't pay the bills, but they can make what you do to pay the bills more tolerable.)

Sorry if this reading wasn't what you were looking for, but hopefully it's given you some stuff to think about. Good luck for the rest of this year regardless, I think we both need it.

If you feel so inclined, please feel free to send feedback in my ask box, leave feedback in a reblog of this reading, and/or reblog my reading guidelines!

Hello! Elias. It/its. My question is: What have the spirits/entities/otherwise been trying to communicate to me that I have not listened to (if there are any spirits/entities present)? If this is not applicable- as in, "this is not the right question" I know some spirits do- then a general vibe check would be much appreciated. Background: I feel as though I have been missing or misunderstanding messages recently, and I figure a second opinion would be good to have. Dealer's choice on deck. And I know these readings are for one card, so whatever card represents the answer best is perfectly all right, I will be able to go from there. Thank you and have a nice night. ~ 🦑 (Obligatory squid for easier identification)

Good morning Elias! Since I accidentally spent three and a half hours playing Skyrim last night, today I'll be using the Skyrim Tarot for your reading. With the disclaimer that there's only so much information you can get from a single-card reading, your cards is the Five of Arms upright.

Speaking generally, this card points at a lack of success in an endeavor. It points at an enemy that has proven too great to slay and asks that you prepare to meet unfairness, cruelty, and slander.

I must admit that I don't know if this card is just confirming that you're struggling with picking up the messages or if this is in and of itself the message of what you're missing. I tried to skew for the latter but there's definitely some overlap...can we invent the term "divination drift" for this? I feel like that's what's going on here.

Fives in tarot readings just suck. This is a fact. They're the second-arc setback in the three-act structure. The suit of Arms in this deck is equivalent to the Swords in a standard tarot deck, tying them to the element of Air. This is the mental and intellectual realm and embodies conflict, power, and judgment. In this deck, this belongs to the Companions faction.

So basically, the message here is

In any case, I wish you luck, Elias. If you feel so inclined, please feel free to send feedback in my ask box, leave feedback in a reblog of this reading, and/or reblog my reading guidelines!

I apologize it took me a while to get a review out.

I would like to say that the card may represent the message intended. As to what it's in reference to, I am still unsure, there are many things to consider. However, and I understand the vagueness of this review, I do have quite an idea.

In other words, this is another stellar reading, and rather surprising how accurate given the one-card pull. And with how October is going so far...

Thank you again!

And thank you for leaving feedback! I wish you luck with this and whatever you do next.

Hello, darling! Fellow Aro/Ace (Agender) here!🤍✨

Alias: Evil, or Vin! Whichever you gravitate towards!

Pronouns: they/them

Deck: I have a preference for dragons—But, pick whatever resonates!

Question: Now, I have a million questions. As is common in human nature, duh. Though, I’m trying to lead myself into a direction where I can find the answer rather than receive it. So, I took a curious glance at your example questions tag and selected one that resonates. What does my inner child need of me? How can I heal our relationship, and reconnect? If, they need anything at all?

Background: So.. TLDR; I’m going on an immense spiritual journey with the goals of finding myself and exploring as much as I can. I jumped into paganism, witchcraft, and much more! I’m a very beginner witch (in the research phase), so I’m exploring a lot! It all kickstarted after 2024 decided to be the worst year ever. Then, I left an abusive relationship near six months ago! Funny how trauma leads to spirituality :) Regardless, I’m on a huge healing journey and I’m trying to find my footing. Touch on bases, as you will. I decided to go with this inner child one as I’m a very imaginative person. I love character creation, writing, animation—the works! But, I was harsh on my younger self in my teens. I’ve also got an insane maternal streak. Don’t know what that’s about! But, I’m curious on if my inner child needs anything from me. Or, if she longs for me to explore anything I haven’t already.

If nothing comes up concerning that (which I know can happen), then feel free to go general! Any auras, vibes, or messages meant for me lingering in the universe. I’m very open to receiving and learning!

Sorry for the long ask! Feel free to reject this for any reason (as your services are so kindly free). I wish you a whimsical day!✨

Good morning, Evil! You've given me quite the reading to chew on, and while there isn't a complete picture that can be gained from a single-card pull, I can at least give you a direction to go. I'm using the Tarot of Dragons by Shawn MacKenzie and Firat Solhan. Your card is the Nine of Wands.

The dragon pictured on this card is weary and hurt from warfare. They lean upon their staff. Blood trickles from their body. Their wings are torn. The enemy still remains, and they are still ready to keep fighting if the enemy finds them. This card is one of pause in a struggle. You have a moment to breathe and patch yourself up. You have a moment to rest. You should still be vigilant so you are not amushed (literally or metaphorically) but you also need a break.

...Yeah, this one's pretty open and shut if you ask me. Your inner child needs you to take a break. I don't know from what, but I think that's up to you to explore. Good luck, Evil! If you feel so inclined, please feel free to send feedback in my ask box, leave feedback in a reblog of this reading, and/or reblog my reading guidelines!

Huh, a break.. How curious! I suppose that’s for to me to ponder and explore! Thank you for being my compass and pointing me in a direction! I’ll take a note of that!

Also, thanks for reading my long ask! I like to be thorough! Hope it wasn’t too overwhelming!!

Thank you so much for the feedback, and I'm glad the reading was helpful! I wish you luck going forward!

Hello. If you are still offering free readings, may I ask for one? I would like to know whether I will get a job interview (this October) for the position I applied to some time ago. The job offer felt like a dream one and it was in the place I did my internship years ago. Thank you very much, Natalia, she/her, Taurus.

Hey Jasper, I pressed ask too quickly as I am typing from my phone. If I may add something extra to my ask, I would like to know how would my interview go (if I end up having one), and whether will I land that job. My apologies for pressing too quickly.

Hey there, welcome to the ask box. I'm not comfortable doing this reading as it falls under the yes/no-questions in my guidelines. I wish you good luck with the interview, though!

Jasper's Reading Guide

Wanna know how I do readings? Behold, the general template that I use in my brain when answering questions! I like having a template.

The Reading

We're going to get into the functional middle bit first, then I'll talk more about presenting it.

First, I read out the question aloud to my decks (and the entities listening, if applicable), explaining the background around them if I have them. Context matters in readings, after all. This allows everyone involved in the reading to get on the same page. I'm also slowly drifting into a more animist approach (thanks, Khajiit) when it comes to deck spirits.

I riffle-shuffle my decks, which does, in fact, warp them like a bitch and mess with the edges and corners. I shuffle them over and over (sometimes flipping the cards to reverse them in the deck if applicable) until the same card remains on top for three consecutive shuffles, then remove it and redo that entire thing for the next card placement. This is why it takes me forever to do a reading that's more than two or three cards.

I deal the cards face-down at first. Once they're all placed, that's when I turn them up and see what we're working with, that way I only have to grimace at the end of the card reveal process.

The Write-Up

Generally speaking, I can pull off setting up part of the format for the reading before I even get my cards out. Typically, that's setting up my opener.

Opener

This is where I say hi to the querent, introduce the deck being used (and the deity who has called dibs on it, if applicable), and get my initial ramblings out of the way. If I have additional resources or information that may benefit the querent separately from the reading, I'll put them here as well just so I'm not spending the entire reading thinking about it. Finally, I present the card(s) I drew. When I can, I add a photo of very terrible quality because my phone camera is really bad, but sometimes the visual cues of the card hit something for the querent that wouldn't get hit if I merely described it or just said the card alone. I didn't do this for years (not that you would know since I nuked a bunch of my old posts) but I've started doing it now to show off my decks. When my Internet holds up, at least.

Cards and Interpretation

I start with an overview of the individual cards, getting into the nitty-gritty of how they tie back into the initial question, before I combine them together to illustrate the full answer. When I remember to, I'll comment on the elements present in the reading and how that works in my practice. I might even notice the numbers for a big enough reading and draw on stuff I've learned about number-jumping from other tarot readers.

Closing Statement

This is where I give a motivational speech or well wishes to the querent and do my spiel about leaving feedback and/or reblogging my reading guidelines. Since I do these readings for free, feedback and reblogs are my ideal payment for my services.

And that's it!

Crazy how easy it is when you outline it all, huh? A lot of this is just instinct at this point because I've spent so long developing it. In any case, I hope this has been interesting to read!

How to Ask Better Questions in a Tarot Reading

ever do a reading for yourself and the cards feel… fuzzy? you ask a big, important question and the answer feels vague or disconnected.

i’m gonna let you in on a little secret: it’s probably not the cards. it’s the query.

in programming, there’s a principle called "garbage in, garbage out." if you give the system a messy, unfocused command, you’re going to get a messy, unfocused result. the tarot is the exact same. a powerful, life-changing reading starts with a powerful, well-formed question.

the secret to a powerful question? it needs to have a direction. it needs a North Star, a main quest marker on the map. your tarot deck is like a GPS for your soul; it can give you incredible turn-by-turn directions, but you have to tell it where you're trying to go.

your "Life Goal" doesn't have to be some grand, epic destiny. It can be "to find a job that feels creative," or "to build a stable, loving partnership," or "to feel at peace in my own skin." But having that goal in mind when you form your questions is what turns a vague reading into a tactical mission briefing.

so, how do we write these high-tier queries? we run them through four simple filters:

// Filter 1: Focus on YOU

You only have admin rights to your own system. You can run a diagnostic on someone else's private server but this information won't really change anything for you (though sometimes there is a place for closure like this). However, most times it's more important that your questions are about you.

  • Buggy Query: "What is my ex thinking about me?"
  • Optimized Query: "What do I need to understand about my past relationship to heal and move forward?"

// Filter 2: Focus on What You CAN CONTROL

Are you a player character, or are you just watching a cutscene? Your questions should be about your actions, not passive predictions. Don't ask what will happen to you; ask what you can do.

  • Buggy Query: "Will I get the promotion?"
  • Optimized Query: "How can I best demonstrate my skills and leadership qualities to be seen as the ideal candidate for the promotion?"

// Filter 3: Focus on CHANGE

The tarot is a language of process and transformation. It's much better at answering "how" and "what" than a simple "yes/no." Ask for a roadmap, not a final destination sign; you should already know the final destination (and ultimately, it should be your life goal, see below)

  • Buggy Query: "Is this the right career path for me?"
  • Optimized Query: "What can I learn from my current career path, and how can I pivot it toward greater fulfillment?"

// Filter 4: Focus on Your LIFE GOAL

This is the most important filter. This is what gives your query its power and direction. Take a good question and make it a great one by tying it to your North Star.

  • Good Query: "How should I handle this conflict with my difficult coworker?"
  • POWERFUL Query: "How can I handle this conflict with my coworker in a way that aligns with my goal of creating a more peaceful and collaborative work environment for myself?"
  • Good Query: "What do I need to know about my love life?"
  • POWERFUL Query: "What blockages do I need to clear in myself to align with my goal of attracting a stable, long-term partnership?"

when you ask questions like this, the cards don't just give you a vague weather report. they give you a clear, actionable strategy to help you complete your main quest.

you stop being a passive user simply asking for spoilers, and you become the lead developer, asking for the data you need to write the next chapter of your own code- which is what we're aiming for!
