1. Today I Did Things, 22 Nov 2016

Took a shower and decided to shave my legs

After drying off, put on my glasses and realized I had only shaved one leg

Debated the merits of getting back in the tub and finishing the job (pros: Western norms of feminine beauty; cons: it’s winter, who cares)

    That’s it, that’s all I did today

  2. This Weekend I Did Things, 20 Nov 2016

Self-care: cooking, laundry, conversations with friends, Netflix, planning social things to do over the coming week.

Researched organizations I want to be involved with when I move back to the US next month.

Experimented with increasing security measures on my website and read up on my options for securing my personal data.

  3. Today I Did Things, 17 Nov 2016 (Election Aftermath Edition)

Woke up and got out the door with minimal procrastination.

Continued a very slow conversation with my Republican parents about what we can expect from the incoming administration.

Remained chipper through two hours of leading client calls at my day job.

Ate enough food, drank enough water, and remembered to take my medications at the right time.

Called my senators to urge them to carefully vet any appointees the president-elect submits for confirmation.

Donated to a fellow writer who needs top surgery, whose YouCaring page has, if not the best name ever, certainly the best fundraiser name of our time.

Made Planned Parenthood my Amazon Smile charity of choice.

Thought about my five-year plan, and how my goals now are things I never would have imagined before – not because I’ve changed, or even because the world has changed so very much, but because I didn’t believe I was good enough. That stops now.

    • Cleaned up the kitchen

    • Wrote 194 words on a short story

I started a rough draft for my research paper that isn’t due until Wednesday! This is the first time in a very long time that I have managed to do something ahead of time, instead of waiting until the night before to do it. I’m proud of myself for that!

What are you proud of today?

    That’s great! Go you! :D

Today I went to therapy, read a friend’s story and talked with him about it, did a load of laundry (still need to fold it though), did dishes, cleaned out my fridge (so very long overdue), took out garbage, and packed most of my winter clothes into a space bag for moving purposes. (After all that, my room still looks like a train wreck! Oh, well.)

  9. Today I woke up before nine o'clock despite the holiday and actually got a pretty good chunk of homework done before lunch, leaving more time to write papers in the afternoon!

This is your reminder that you are NOT a bad person for putting something off, falling behind in work, or not turning something in. You are not a failure. The important thing is to pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and figure out the best way for you to move forward. You can do it, I believe in you! xx
