But Wikipedia absolutely does provide misinformation on some topics.

Yea, it does, but it also has sources and is a good starting point when someone is trying to learn stuff. I wouldn't use it for details. Teachers at schools actually discouraged wikipedia usage for projects, however again.

If you need information fast, wikipedia is the better choice than AI summary due to those summaries often sourcing from unreliable sources that are either sponsored or just clicked often. While it is relatively accurate most of the time, I have seen it make very dangerous assumptions.

Wikipedia, on the other hand— is checked by humans. Humans make mistake, of course. Yes. But wikipedia isn't the end-all information source. It is the basics so you can read more things.

You need information about the reproduction of mushrooms and it's got a relatively rich article on that with cited studies and other sources that you can click though and learn even more because wikipedia just summarizes that stuff. Which technically is the same thing as what the AI dies, but that one is judged by a human eye so is less likely to confuse mushrooms with mushrooms. Which may not be the best comparison since mushrooms are mushrooms, but you get what I mean. AI often wouldn't. It doesn't.

And when it's AI review of a topic, it kind of does have to. I've read some crazy statements on that thing that would never be found on Wikipedia.

So uh. Both have mistakes in them. But wikipedia has those mistakes due to regular human error or sometimes being outdated instead of... Not understanding the difference between a john and a john.

People seem to also be very aware that wikipedia has some inaccuracies; while often trusting blindly in whatever AI overview throws at them.

Personally nowadays I just go to Springer and other research heavy places directly. Just. WAHM WAHM TOPIC STUDY. Search on newest. boom
