M30s. This tumblr's a mess, ha 👍
“Rich kids should go to public schools. The mayor should ride the subway to work. When wealthy people get sick, they should be sent to public hospitals. Business executives should have to stand in the same airport security lines as everyone else. The very fact that people want to buy their way out of all of these experiences points to the reason why they shouldn’t be able to. Private schools and private limos and private doctors and private security are all pressure release valves that eliminate the friction that would cause powerful people to call for all of these bad things to get better. The degree to which we allow the rich to insulate themselves from the unpleasant reality that others are forced to experience is directly related to how long that reality is allowed to stay unpleasant. When they are left with no other option, rich people will force improvement in public systems. Their public spirit will be infinitely less urgent when they are contemplating these things from afar than when they are sitting in a hot ER waiting room for six hours themselves.”

wow players having to stand in lines for a quest because a relevant npc can only talk to one player at a time. is the funniest image on the planet

i need to correct this: wow classic doesn’t have any npcs that can only talk to one player at a time. these lines actually formed for a quest npc that players had to kill to complete the objective. knowing that i think this image is even funnier.

Literally this

My favourite is the guy saying, “This is like being at the dmv”

We talk a lot about "if you're sick stay home from work" but I feel like we also have a lot more control over "If you're sick stay away from that social function."

If you're sick, stay away from that social function.

If you're almost sick, and going to this social function is going to wear you out and probably push you over the line into actually sick, you should probably stay away from that social function and get some rest.

If your kids are sick, don't drag them to the function. Stay home. Put a funny movie on. We do not need to perpetuate this culture. We do not need to have our kid's cold turn into Grandma's pneumonia just to keep up appearances. We do not need to have our kid's cold turn into 20 other kids' colds just to participate in a craft at the library that you could easily replicate at home by googling for 2 seconds.

It often feels unfair when you are forced to go to work sick and you think "well I had to go to work sick so why shouldn't I go to the bar, to this party, to my friend's sick?" But it is so so important, when the government and higher institutions have abandoned us, we as a society and as communities have to take care of each other because we know that nobody else is going to

The closer one comes to Jesus, the more one is drawn into the mystery of his Passion.

My parents' priest friend got assigned a rather "bad" parish (it's in a commercial area). First time we went to visit for Sunday mass it was only half full. A couple months latter it was so full of people we had trouble finding where to sit. The line for confession was incredibly long even though it was running the whole morning, he said he was going to get another priest to help with confessions. He stayed to greet people by the door and people were waiting in line to ask for a blessing instead of just leaving. What a good priest can do to a parish is impressive. Let's always remind ourselves to pray for priests, they need our prayers.

"goddess" "matriarchy" "female wisdom" girl your civic rights

“But I didn’t and still don’t like making a cult of women’s knowledge, preening ourselves on knowing things men don’t know, women’s deep irrational wisdom, women’s instinctive knowledge of Nature, and so on. All that all too often merely reinforces the masculinist idea of women as primitive and inferior – women’s knowledge as elementary, primitive, always down below at the dark roots, while men get to cultivate and own the flowers and crops that come up into the light. But why should women keep talking baby talk while men get to grow up? Why should women feel blindly while men get to think?”

— Ursula K. Le Guin

Jo in Little Women: "I find it poor logic to say that because women are good, women should vote. Men do not vote because they are good; they vote because they are male, and women should vote, not because we are angels and men are animals, but because we are human beings and citizens of this country."

How to fix a ripped plushie (clear and easy to follow) by 浪浪山陈三丫头手缝师傅

ok thank god there's so many fucking videos showing you how to do a ladder stitch like it's some kind of magic trick but here's the actual use case for it: closing a seam you can't reach the inside of. in all other cases, if you're fixing a ripped seam on pants, or on a tshirt, the ladder stitch is a messy, glorified running stitch.
