My wife may die now because her condition is rapidly worsening, and she suffers from severe breathing difficulties especially at night Doctors say she urgently needs treatment and medical intervention but I cannot afford any of it

I will not forgive anyone who scrolls past this plea and keeps browsing as if nothing is happening.

Doctors say my wife needs urgent treatment and surgery, and I cannot afford any of it. Every minute without help pushes her one step closer to death.

Please donate now — your support could save her life.

I am a husband screaming into the silence, begging strangers to care. Do not let my wife become another number. Share her story, donate now, and help give her a chance to live.

Saw this on Pinterest but wanted to share bc actually I have had a physio recommend this to me and it’s been amazing!

Walking backwards strengths the muscles around your knee (esp the quadriceps, which you will definitely feel if you do this) but doesn’t put the same strain on the joint as forward walking or running. It’s very good for your balance, coordination and patellar tracking, all important to reduce knee pain, support your knees and can help rehab knee injuries.

I do it on a gym treadmill, usually at 1.2 km/h (but I’ve seen anywhere from 0.8-1.6 km/h recommended, which is like 0.5-1.0 mph for the Americans). You can start with a very slight incline and then slowly increase it 5% as you get more comfortable, and to help engage the muscles. I usually do this for 5 to 10 minutes, 3-4 times a week. My understanding is that you can also do it outside, either on flat or sloped ground, because just walking backwards itself is useful as hell (the incline is just useful to engage muscles more as you get more used to it)

If you have even a spare 20 minutes a week, this is seriously useful to support your knees, because there is nothing worse than injuring one

Bc I know there are many people on this website dealing with chronic pain and disability, I will add some studies below the cut on backwards walking (retro walking) as well. It's been investigated for quite a few things including knee osteoarthritis, lower back pain/instability and also balance improvement for people with hearing impairments, to name a few

To answer a few questions I’ve gotten:

• I manage this okay with being fairly prone to dizziness. I recommend keeping the walking pace slow, and using the side bars for grip. If you have vertigo or dizziness, do proceed with caution, because a fall is not the goal! It may be worth seeking specialist advice if you have particular health concerns, just to make sure you’re not going to injure yourself while trying to help yourself.

• “There’s exercises to help your knees?” Yes! There’s exercises for everything out there, but supporting and strengthening joints is often really important for people aging, people injured or people recovering from surgery - the rest of us just tend to forget or not be aware about it more. Here’s a starting point, but there’s lots of resources out there:

• If you’re limited on space/gear, a few people in the tags mentioned that this can be done with resistance bands. I’ve never personally tried it, but the concept is there, and a search shows that lots of physios have good guides to different ways you can do this!

Poverty sucks bc what do you mean Lola just got 400 bucks but bc of hotel feels and no apartment half of it's gonna be gone. And she has to pay for her English proficiency test ($200 USD) AND find an apartment. But she can't do all this with the same 400 dollars, especially not since we don't know when an apartment is going to become available or even where.

I hope I'm not asking too much by asking for help to get her a new laptop so that she can get a new job online. A new laptop would run her about 300-500 dollars in Nigeria, depending on the brand. Is there a way we can get allies to finance this quickly so that she can get back to work and make money for herself?

Can any allies help?

New campaign for Laila!

Unfortunately, like so many others, my friend Laila's GoFundMe account was unjustly deleted by the site. She had been using for years to raise lifesaving funds that helped her survive the war on Gaza.

I have set up a new Chuffed account on her behalf so she and her family can continue to receive crucial support from caring people around the world. Winter in Gaza is very harsh right now, and Laila, her husband, and their two young children are currently living in the ruins of their destroyed family home, with only minimal supplies and shelter to keep the cold out.

Please share this post, spread the new campaign widely and help it gain traction. Even small donations help a lot. You can also send donations through my Paypal, please include a note that says "for Laila".

Laila has been vetted & her campaigns shared by @bilal-sala7 (#53), @a-shade-of-blue, @90-ghost, and other trusted sources.

apparently most of you do not know how to pirate audiobooks? sign up for an account on audiobookbay or mobilism with an email account not linked to your identity. torrent or download. fmhy has more websites i've never needed to venture out to. and its got a reasonably good guide on how to do piracy safely.

if its an older, popular out of copyright book, librivox has it too. it is a community oriented audiobook creation and distribution website. i recorded a book on there too. so can you :)
