Every time I watch The Prince of Egypt I can never get over how fucking funny Rameses reactions to Moses' staff turning into a snake is. In fact I took a pic frame for frame of his reactions and they're all funny:

This is the face of an older brother and he is 100% not gonna be impressed with anything his little brother does

My address stamp is arriving in the mail later today, and Staples will deliver my box of purple paper on Tuesday, so I might be able to print the first issue of my zine exactly on time! My goal is to print new issues on the 13th of each month, but I assumed January's would be late as I worked out all the startup bugs, but things are going very smoothly. I thought I'd have to aim for the 20th this month, but looks like I'll be right on schedule.

It's here!

The purple ink doesn't photograph very well. It looks dark blue here, but in real life it's a nice, rich purple.

Things are coming along nicely.

It arrived early!

Lilac pastel copy paper. In the photo it looks like a good light purple, but to the eye it's closer to pink. I can work with that, no big deal.

Ten reams, 5000 sheets total. I expect to write four to six pages per issue, which is two to three double-sided sheets. If I average 2.5 per issue this carton has enough for 2000 printings. I'm hopeful my total number of subscribers will continue to grow each month, but at the current level this box will last me for years.

To allow more time for questions and comments to come in, I will hold off on printing Issue 1 until Sunday the 18th. Any submissions I receive by Saturday afternoon will be included in Issue 1. Any submissions received after that will be held until Issue 2 in February, but as long as your letter is postmarked by the end of January you will still receive Issue 1 in the mail.

Going forward, submissions close on the 6th of each month and issues go to print one week later on the 13th. Submissions received before the 6th will be included in that month's issue, but after the 6th they'll be held until the following month. This gives me time to finish writing articles to include everyone's thoughts.

If you would like updates on when I receive your subscription and mail out your issues, please include your url in your letter. I want to do as much of this offline as possible, but seeing as I'm posting about it here anyway I'll keep this blog open as a form of customer service. You can DM me here or on my main @somethingusefulfromflorida
