TO ANYONE WHO USES DISCORD- FOUR AI SCRAPING BOTS HAVE BEEN SECRETLY ADDED TO YOUR SERVERS WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT
Saw this going around and tested it myself, and I can confirm that this is unfortunately legit. Four hidden bots have been placed in any existing or newly created Discord server that are harvesting data, images, and most concerningly, one seems to be a face swap bot.
Due to them being invisible, banning them from your servers isn’t possible without their ID’s, which I’ve typed out for easy access.
Banning is done with the /ban command with each string pasted in one at a time. Four ban commands in total.

Hey so in case you’re like me and wondered: Can you ban members without them being in the server?
The answer is yes, you absolutely can! It’ll look like this - the numbers you paste will be what’s “banned”
However my sibling tried this in her servers and found that One of them was NOT a string of numbers, like so:

So if you ban these numbers and the message shows the actual username? Pretty sure that means they were in there.
Very unpleasant way to check the veracity of this post but hopefully this is a helpful tip for anyone who was concerned - my sib would have No Reason to add these in herself and didn’t have any clue it was in there.
Personally, I’d say even if you are still worried about misinfo/fearmongering/etc from this post, think of it this way - worst case scenario is you’re banning a bot you’ll never use or need. Not a person, a bot. There’s no real damage done playing it safe and running the ban commands through, aside from maybe losing some time doing so.

Wishing I’d seen this more quickly - Had to take these things out of a lot of creative spaces just now. I’m not convinced that the username only shows up if they were in there, but I do think it’s better safe than sorry, especially when peoples’ art is involved.
I mean it’s kinda the real life tragedy of love exaggerated, innit? Irl people die young or one person dies old and another person dies even older. At the end of it all someone gets left behind and has to learn how to move on after that. And for the one who dies you know you’re leaving them behind. You know you’re dooming them to moving on and if you believe in an afterlife god only knows how long you’ll be waiting for them on the other side. The tragedy of the immortal loving the mortal takes those feelings we all know about and rips your heart out about it.

maybe the most evil example of lavender liberalism was when i met with an artist and she told me was working with some local lgbtqia+ orgs because the pride displays every year were getting vandalized , their solution was making an artwork with a high enough material cost that vandalizing it would hit the offender with a felony charge

I mean, it’s not the most shocking, but it is something I would very strongly argue against doing.
It varies by state, but a felony vandalism conviction in the US can well imply tens of thousands of dollars in fines and multiple years in prison, plus employment discrimination and the loss of civil rights that might come with a felony conviction. This is a life ruining punishment. Some people might deserve to get their life ruined in this way (still debatable), but some random bigot who didn’t even harm anyone does not. If this does end up happening and the deliberate engineering of a felony comes to light, this is the recipe for entrenched grudges, not for community safety.
I also don’t think deterrence works like that. Deterrence via higher penalties has a bad track record to begin with, but especially with vandalism. Do you know the felony threshold in your state? Can you count on the vandal-to-be to know it? Can you count on them correctly identifying when their vandalism reaches these damages?
Even if you do want to go the liberal state power route, putting up cameras is more conducive to actual deterrence than trumping up charges.
also: not only does this require the LGBT org to set aside significant cash for this high-value artwork, it also requires that org to set aside significant cash, time and personnel to actually follow through with prosecuting the offender for this felony. or enough to look like they would, at least, but good luck communicating that “vandalizing this display is a higher-risk crime than you can normally afford to commit”. just put up cameras instead, yeah.
and that’s the key point: afford to commit. all this for what? all to hope the shithead won’t have better a lawyer than you? you’re not championing queer rights, you’re championing property rights- weaponizing the structures that allow the upper classes to dominate the lower classes, in the hopes of crushing someone lower. it’s identity-based, vibes-based, violent, wasteful justice that doesn’t even work unless the status quo already favors you and disfavors your chosen enemy. that’s what makes it lavender liberalism.
a LGBT org’s resources should go towards punching up at the ruling class. and they should go towards, you know… helping LGBT people.
besides, it’s probably much cheaper to just replace the vandalized display every time! switch to lower-value materials if you must. you want to make it pointless and wasteful for bigots to destroy what you build, not dangerous and risky. you want to win the war of attrition, not lose it. an org with the interests of queer people in mind must be willing to take risks and strike decisively, including in a court of law, when it would advance their interests. but this is not it. this is just advancing the interest of pride displays.
