Trans Guy Archive masterpost!
Are you a trans guy? Have you ever been frustrated by the apparent lack of historical representation for people like you? The Trans Guy Archive (TGA) is (so far) the only historical and cultural database focusing on historical transmasculinity.
Researching history - when you’re not trained in it - can be very difficult and overwhelming. The main goal of the TGA is to make history accessible, both visually and academically. We do our best to shy away from “overly pretentious” elitist language and turns of phrase so anyone can follow along.
What can you find on the TGA?
Historical profiles!
Our head researcher spends a lot of time reading about notable trans guys like Lou Sullivan and Reed Erickson and writing a digestible synopsis of their lives and achievements. Semi or fully complete biographies are being added every month.
Books, movies, magazines, and other materials!
We’ve been scouring the internet and physical libraries for academic and biographical works with central themes of transmasculinity to add to the archive! All of them are either free to read, low in cost, or will be made free to access in the future.
Photographic evidence that we’ve always existed!
While photography is a relatively new medium, there’s a serious lack of trans guys from the visual record! We’ve got photographs of old trans marches, top *and* bottom surgery, HRT injections, fashion collages, and more!
Guides and tips for your transition!
Especially when your egg is freshly cracked, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to find quality info on everything from fashion to hormones to legal paperwork. We’re adding new info on ways to help you achieve the Real You all the time.
