Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1973. The second generation of Chevrolet’s personal luxury car arrived for the ’73 model year, bringing with it the option of "Strato Bucket" seats that could swivel to permit the driver and front passenger easier entry and exit. It also featured the federally mandated 5 mph front bumper that was among the required 1973 federal safety standards for all passenger cars sold in the U.S. It was no longer a hardtop but became a pillared "Colonnade" coupe with rear side opera windows and frameless door glass.
