Over the weeks, Gatty has proven quite the diligent student. Too bad she doesn’t have a better teacher.

I may be confident in my own magic—the feeling of it at my fingertips, the buzzing under my skin, the control as it is sent forth to do my bidding—but finding the words to explain it to another has proven challenging.

Still, Gatty now understands what is at stake, and together we have found ways to expand her control. Perhaps that motivation is enough.
