The standoff with agents happened on Jan. 8, one day after an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Good in south Minneapolis. Wooten’s refusal to comply with ICE was captured on video and posted to Facebook.
The agents tried everything to intimidate the guard.
“You can’t come back here, bro,” Wooten can be heard in the video saying to an agent wearing a mask and sunglasses. “I’m talking to your manager,” the agent said. Wooten responded: “No, you’re talking to security, I’m in charge.”
ICE left empty-handed. Wooten said he just stood his ground, “10 toes down.”
“I was doing my job like I’m supposed to,’’ Wooten said. “If you don’t stand for something, you’ll fall for anything. I just want to make my family safe because I’ve been here three years.”

just had a convo with my friend. she mentioned she doesnt like sake cause its sparkling.
“wait, sake is sparkling? what have i been drinking?” i said. because i also dont like sparkling stuff.
i look at the sake bottle ive been drinking from for fun events for the past year. its vinegar.
i’ve been drinking strawberry flavored vinegar.
-
in my defense:
and:
its very hard to tell for someone who only kind-of reads Japanese and just saw the component for "sake flask" (酉) and, rightfully assumed, that the bottle that said sake was probably sake.
-
Summary: no one involved was drinking sake.

You have lived for months as a “pet” to a cruel vampire, and it has been miserable. You’ve nearly resigned to your fate when two new vampires show up to the residence claiming to be from VETH (Vampires for the Ethical Treatment of Humans).

No single solution is the perfect and only one, and art-installation wind generators are a good way to add off-grid power in built-up areas where big turbines are a no-go (or where neighborhood rules prohibit them).
Any viable solarpunk future requires a variety of energy sources that do not pollute, and cities pose added challenges. This is a start!
Other great solutions for inhabited areas include solar roofs over not just homes but also bus stops and parking areas: Anywhere heat builds up, solar energy is not just being wasted but is adding to cooling requirements.
And we definitely need to see more green things growing in cities - plants absorb heat and carbon dioxide, convert sunlight into growth energy, and provide shade for other living creatures (including us).
Solutions like this wind-energy sculpture are great pieces that help build the overall architecture of living more sustainably!

Many men cannot imagine women as people, just as many men cannot imagine living an independent life, because they never learned to tie their fuckin' shoes themselves.
Ask him what he's gonna do when his wife leaves him and his children go no-contact. If he doesn't know the answer, go ahead and tell him.

I did see the blood, but I suppose I was kind of just theory-crafting lol.
But also, the four girls have blood on their fingers, dresses, and mouths (at least the two whose faces we can see) but the girl FACING the audience has no blood on her at all, as well as a vaguely surprised/neutral expression whereas the other two girls whose expression we can see are smiling; implying that something about HER is different. So, I’m gonna continue to believe that the astronaut somehow got gore-magicked into a bunny girl, and is now the girl facing the audience, confused that they got turned into a space bunny!

I'd imagine that everyone thinks that transgender care is easy to get in California but the nearest gender clinic covered by my insurance is like a three hour drive away and the nearest qualified top surgeon is like two hours away.
-
Road trip! (going to the gender doctor)

The central valley is a location that's like perpetually ten to twenty years in the past on almost all fronts. The city that I live in is literally a medical tourism destination for the region and we have no surgeons in town that will do any standard gender affirming surgery. They ship you off to LA or the bay area for that.
-
I have not claimed that I am experiencing a traumatic event. I simply think that being forced to go a long ways out of my way for basic medical care isn’t a great thing. My region is just not great for trans people in general. If the situation is worse in your region I sympathize with you. I hope it gets better for both of us.

Makes me glad I live an hour from Boston where there are options. A friend of mine just got bottom surgery and my husband just got his consultation for top surgery. The wait is still long as hell though. My friend had to wait 5 years for bottom surgery and my husband is on a wait list of 4 years from now.
It is wild that transphobes think that children can just easily get it done quickly.
