You and I and everyone else alive have fucking plastic particles in our brains now. There's artificial fertilizer on the bottom of the ocean and pesticides on the highest mountain peaks. Very explicitly, in the video, the regular police straight up lie to the couple, telling them they will go to jail for harboring a fugitive if they dont hand the doordasher over, and that it doesnt matter if ice has a warrant for her arrest. NEITHER OF THESE THINGS ARE TRUE. You CANNOT be harboring a fugitive if the person you are haboring doesnt have a warrant out for their arrest! The warrant is what makes them a fugitive!
If ice wants access to someone on your property, do NOT hand them over unless you are shown a warrant signed by a judge! Make as much noise as you can to attract bystanders - it was the fact that a crowd gathered and started yelling at them that made ice leave in the video. And DO NOT expect the regular police to help you - they are just another arm of the state and will only do or say whatever they think is necessary to make you comply.
And make sure you film everything so you have evidence of what really happened if ice tries to enter your property illegally.
I am begging you. Please learn about stress/discomfort tolerance. Practice raising it. You need this to survive. If someone online can ruin your day with a throwaway comment, you desperately need to understand discomfort tolerance and consciously, systematically build that shit.
Also! Stress tolerance is such an important skill that having a learning disability in that area is a major symptom of a whole lot of other disabilities/mental illnesses! Struggling with it is a huge part of life! It sucks!

As a preschool teacher, this is a skill you need for parenting. I cannot tell you how many kids I work with who are having an incredibly hard time because their parents don’t have the distress tolerance skills to cope with being a parent. I have so many kiddos who parents never let them be distressed (swooping in as soon as they’re crying, fixing natural consequences, flexing boundaries) because they themselves do not have the skills to cope with a crying child. This also sets their kid up to not have any distress tolerance skills of their own because they don’t see them practiced by adults and have no opportunities practice it themselves.

I don't know if people are aware, but in the middle of last year, there was a whole mess of batch-uploading/account connecting from the former FictionAlley site and it wasn't necessarily done by the author.
I assumed the site was dead and all my fics were long lost. I'd also been going through every archive I could find where my Potter fics were still available and purging them all.
So imagine my surprise when I start getting notifications that multiple Potter fics have been added to my account and attributed to me. They were mine, but they weren't being added by me - my email for FA and my email for AO3 were the same, so there was some weird importing/association shenanigans happening which meant I suddenly had 20+ and rising Potter fics turning up on my account.
Thankfully, there was an option to let them to know to stop slapping my fics onto my account without my approval. I get there's some element of "we're archiving fics for the future", but that was a horrible, horrible thing to wake up to. I don't want to be associated by that woman any more than I have to be, even if that fandom was once incredibly important to me.
In the end I had to go back through my account and manually delete every. single. one. I think I was at upwards of 40 by the time they stopped.
I don't know if this has happened to other authors or if, to 'archive' said fics, they are importing them under the FA name. I just know it would be worth having a check on AO3 to make sure your fics aren't there under an old e-mail address.
The average white tumblr user will understand that any art form/genre in existence has its own variation of modalities as art and genre are ambiguous things and different people will approach it in different ways; except when it comes to rap music. Then they come out the woodwork to say all rap is only about sexualizing women, drugs, and crime or all rap has a specific way of being done that clashes very specifically with a certain condition that only they have, while three posts ago they were talking about a sexual fantasy involving nuns or librarians or something else while smoking weed, and killing that annoying person they know and playing My Trains by Lemon Demon.

First, let me briefly point out that the film/tv industry has more than its fair share of sexual offenders, both on and behind the screen. Indeed, any industry will have sex offenders among their ranks because of how society at large functions. I doubt that in your life you never watched, listened to, played, or interacted in any other way with a piece of media that didn’t have someone that did something that you find offensive.
But that’s a discussion for another time with someone else. You say that you listen to rap, and that you enjoy it. But then you posit that all straight Black male rappers are all automatically rapists, and that’s why you don’t support them. Allow me to explain that not only is this a DANGEROUS notion to take root in your mind, it’s also not original. Black men being considered rapists is a threat that’s been aimed at us for centuries to justify the violence that befalls us from the hands of racism. You unilaterally say that all “mainstream” rappers are rapists, an incredibly racist and offensively untrue statement by any measure of common sense and decency.
You could’ve said you don’t want to support Sean “Diddy” Combs and anyone that’s worked closely with him, and left it at that; but instead you decided to say that because of him; ALL straight Black male rappers are rapists. You suggest this about rappers that were around before him, that are gaining fame after his arrest, and rappers that have never even met him. You say you listen to Black women and Black queer folks and think this somehow absolves of the cartoonishly racist statement you make of straight Black men. And I think you know this is a racist thing to believe because you’re on anonymous, and like all forms of bigotry (your racism in this case) is a form of intellectual dishonesty and cowardice.

IMPORTANT NOTE it's the other way around!!! Tylenol is hard on your liver, NSAIDs like Advil are hard on your kidneys. This is why you should never take acetaminophen with alcohol or if you've been drinking; your liver can't handle processing Tylenol and alcohol at the same time*. Meanwhile, NSAIDS can be dangerous if you have kidney damage/disease or high blood pressure or diabetes, but Tylenol is safer.
*NSAIDs + alcohol also aren't great for your liver, but they're safer than acetaminophen. If you've gotta reach for something for a hangover, Advil is a better choice than Tylenol.
The idea of “but everyone knows that” needs to stop.
I saw a post about someone chiding Millennials for not knowing about JKRowlings transphobia, and asking how it is at all possible that people can exist in the world and the internet and, you know, not know.
Which I mean, I get. It is so present in so many of my online spaces that it seems astounding that someone could simply be ignorant! It feels impossible!
But let me tell you a story:
I went on a girls trip with a bunch of friends. All of us are rather incredibly liberal and all of us are incredibly online.
One girl would not stop talking about Harry Potter.
At one point, another girl asked her why she was ok with supporting it, and she had no real clue that JK Rowling was at all transphobic. She had heard that she likes to support Lesbian causes and thought “oh ok cool!” And that was it. She was AGOG with the news and rather horrified.
I must once again emphasize that she was an incredibly online person. She’s a foodie and a restaurant blogger.
Later in the trip we were picking restaurants and I suggested one I found on Google, and she gasped at me. Actually gasped, asking how I could ever be okay picking that one.
The shock must’ve been on my face, because she then told me all of the shitty things that restaurateur does. He abuses staff. Underpays them. Fires them on a whim. Is known for being one of the worst people to his employees in the entire restaurant business on this coast.
And she was so shocked I had never heard of this. Because in her mind, I was just as online as her. And in her online world, EVERYONE knew about this guy.
So I think the moral of this story is: always approach the other person with some empathy. Even online people, even people you think MUST know about how bad people are, may not have heard. It may truly be just them being on a different sphere of the internet than you.
So be gentle, be kind when letting people know they might not have heard about the cancellation of XYZ person. Don’t assume that everyone knows all the same info as you.
By all means, let them know so they can make informed decisions, but being kind will go a lot further than attacking them for some info they might not know yet.
Cemeteries are not wastes of space. Historical cemeteries ESPECIALLY are not wastes of space. The fact developers are continuously foaming at the mouth to destroy them and put a strip mall up in their place should make you even more determined to help maintain them. In urban areas, they are a haven for wildlife. They are a green space. If you are too afraid of death to utilize them for that purpose, that is on you.
