i feel kind of insane with how many people around me casually talk about using chatgpt for fucking everything. my boss tried to use it to decipher an error message when we were peer programming and i had to stop her and be like "i know what the problem is". another coworker talks about regularly using it to code (i have yet to see good output from him) and another says he uses it to write emails. a friend told me i should've used it to code my personal passion project...and another friend told me about one of her friends who used chatgpt to help her make her goals for the new year. like come the fuck on people this is embarrassing. it feels the same as when people still uncritically mention harry potter to me like oh my god we are living on different planets

i don't understand how people can act like "pathetic man x awesome girlboss woman" is supposed to be some kind of subversive feminist fantasy when men have been fantasizing about being underdog losers who still manage to get with the awesome cool woman who is out of their league for decades now. in fact men have been using "woman is so awesome and cool and sexy like some kind of goddess" as a substitute for having to consider women's interiority for not just decades but centuries now. what makes you any different
