Millennials and Gen Z? BUY SHIT! OWN THINGS! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!
Listen to me.
You do not want this future to happen to you I promise you. Because the minute you enter into a subscription existence you allow for a possibility of losing everything. Why?
Well, because when you stop paying then you stop having.
I buy my cars outright for this reason.
I have not thrown away my DVD collection for this reason.
I still have my old-school ipod for this reason.
I buy songs I really like direct from the artist on top of my subscription for this reason.
I back shit up on to my external hard drives rather than depending on a cloud only for this reason (which reminds me that I need to do taht this weekend).
If someone ELSE is holding the physical source of what you’re paying for? YOU DON’T OWN IT. You’re just giving someone your energy and time for permission to access it.
You’re leasing your existence.
Don’t fucking fall for it, do you hear me?
It’s bad enough we have to lease our water, our heat, our internet and our entertainment.
Buy what you want outright WHENEVER YOU CAN. Then do anything you can to maintain it in the face of planned obsolescence. I promise you, there will be a moment when you will be glad you did
Because aside from relationships? Things are literally all the system let us keep in this existence so don’t lease your fucking possessions if at all avoidable because at this stage in capitalism we’re all a few bad days from being unable to pay those leases. And then what? Then you only have what you can keep and it is those comforts and necessities that will keep you going, I promise you. Don’t let there be anything more that can be taken from you than absolutely necessary.

Just remember that every single systemic oppression we have today started very small somewhere between a few assholes. It grew.
Do not act like something isn’t a problem and never can be, just because it’s mainly (or only) on Tumblr. That shit will spread if you ignore it or think it isn’t really happening, or that it isn’t that big of deal.
Reminder that the Nazi party was originally less than 60 members in 1919 when Hitler first joined
EXACTLY.
Likes are cool but I would really appreciate reblogs… This needs to be common knowledge. People need to be aware that this has been the formula for building up oppression since the dawn of it.
Come to find out, several bad takes DID breach containment because I found out people irl know about trans women but not trans men because of the “protect the dolls” slogan and the active pushing out of trans men. Yeah…
(as a result nonbinary and intersex people are directly affected but we all know y'all don’t care about us)

Alright, fine, here’s the backstory about replacing my Microsoft Copilot key with a picture of a carp. Warning: that’s the whole story.
When I bought my latest laptop, which coincidentally is already losing functionality in multiple keys, I noticed that the right Control button was no longer a right Control button. This was a bad sign for me, someone who fairly frequently used the right Control button. Worse still, it now bore the Microsoft Copilot logo and would open, when pressed, Microsoft Copilot. Not having personal interest in that particular robot, I was now in the market to rebind that key to something else.
I initially considered setting it up as my dedicated The Sims 2 button, but not only do I not yet have The Sims 2 installed on this computer, the way I play that game, it takes upwards of 15 minutes to boot up. I knew I would be constantly accidentally hitting this key, and I did not want to be constantly accidentally opening The Sims 2.
My partner immediately suggested that I set it to open “a jpeg of a fish.” I Googled “carp,” found an image, and set my right Control key to open a tiny browser window with a link to said fish. Though it is a .png file from pngtree labeled “pngtree-rohu-carp-fish-png-png-image_4022775.png”, in an effort to display matrimonial piety, I dutifully labeled it “fish jpeg.”
I now accidentally open this link multiple times a day, which is great, because it means I have a lot of opportunities to see a fish. Sometimes I accidentally hit it several times in quick succession, which means I get to see several fish! When I close all my open programs to shut down my computer, I usually find at least one forgotten fish. Things are working out beautifully, and everyone is happy.
The other day I brought up this story to a friend and relayed the saga of my success to her through her obvious confusion. At the end of my tale she asked me, “Why didn’t you just bind it back to right Control?” and I had to admit to her that it honestly never occurred to me.

The fact that you can’t raise taxes on billionaires even slightly without them pouring money into fascist political movements is, of itself, evidence that billionaires as a class shouldn’t be allowed to exist in the first place.
I’d just like to point out that every single thing that has happened in the 6 years since I created this post has only reinscribed its absolute moral correctness in my mind.

Mob appreciation moment. I really really like that, while Mob is not speaking to Reigen during the separation arc, it’s not because Mob is mad.
That would have been the easiest way to write it for sure. Dimple even presents it this way. Reigen absolutely did say some foot-in-mouth terrible things claiming that Mob’s friends are using him and Mob can only rely on Reigen.
And while Mob absolutely took issue with the accusation that his friends are using him, the words that really got to him were Reigen going “you gotta grow up for crying out loud”
Mob is someone who thinks deeply about the things people says to him, and he’s someone who wants to put in the genuine effort to live his life.
Mob’s take-away from this wasn’t “I’m mad at Reigen.” His take-away was “I tend to just follow what Reigen says because it’s easy and works out. But I think to grow up and live my own life, I need to start making my own decisions and figuring out what I want.”
This arc could so easily have been about a petty squabble or a classic “your business won’t last a day without me!” style bet. But Mob isn’t that type of character.
He got told to grow up and he decided to take it to heart.
I’m back here to sing the praises of how the arc ends.
Because on the other side of this, Reigen’s understanding of his mistake was not just “What I said to Mob was mean.” That was part of it, but the more important part of his realization is what Mob has been doing things to grow and change and improve himself and Reigen had… at some point… stagnated. Reigen used to be someone who wanted to challenge himself and be somebody, but he’d gotten complacent, and apathetic, and the things he said to Mob were trying to drag Mob down with him. And that was the true wrongness of his actions.
Reigen’s apology isn’t “Sorry I was mean” or “Hey I realized I can’t do this without you”, which all, again, would have been the easy way to do the type of arc where the main characters get into an argument.
Instead Reigen is being held for execution at the altar of public opinion, and instead of answering the question the media is drilling him with, he looks at the camera and says, “You’ve really grown up.”
Which hits me so hard because it is, also, total permission for Mob to just move on, by my read. It’s an “I get why you don’t need me anyone, and you should be proud of yourself.” statement. It’s an implicit apology for telling Mob to grow up before. Because Mob has done that, more than Reigen perhaps, and Reigen has made the decision to not drag Mob down anymore.
Mob intervenes here, because his goal was never really about abandoning Reigen. It was just about Mob wanting to take some time to sort his own desires out. And Reigen has made it clear he supports Mob’s decision.
And it’s natural that he should, because Mob’s master Arataka Reigen is a good person.
