MLP AU (Name of the AU TBD)

Luna:

Luna was born a hundred years later than her sister Celestia, and was adored and loved by her parents, specifically Emperor Cosmos. Luna discovered her affinity for the night early on, always spending her time sleeping during the day so she could enjoy the beauty of the moonlit skies of Equestria. She was half-Alicorn, due to Emperor Cosmos being a true Alicorn and Empress Galaxia being only a Unicorn, and was subtly shunned by Celestia (a full Alicorn) for this fact.

Luna grew up idolizing her older sister, aspiring to be as cool and collected as her, but she did not realize that Celestia was not just calm, she actually held no care or love for any pony besides herself.

Luna grew wise to how her sister behaved as she grew older, her magic growing stronger and her innate sense of right and wrong never wavering. Once Celestia took the throne of Equestria, she locked Luna away in Canterlot Castle with magical chains designed to siphon her sister's power and leave her weak and unable to escape.

Luna remained like this for a thousand years, leading to her name and image becoming a myth, an old ponies' tale. Finally, one evening, she escaped from the chains and fled to Ponyville, where she hid at a certain library and was discovered by Twilight Sparkle, Celestia's current student. With Twilight's assistance, as well as the other Mane Six and some other misfit ponies who have been harmed by her sister, Luna aspires to dethrone the tyrannical Sun Empress Celestia and bring peace and true light back to Equestria's lands.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.
