Porsche 917 K, 1970. Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood clinched the first overall victory for Porsche at Le Mans in the red and white 917 Kurzheck (short-tail) with the starting number 23. Motorsport fans know the look of this prototype for the Sports Car World Championship as the “Salzburg Design”. The “Porsche Alpenstraße” car dealership, located in the south of the Austrian city of Salzburg, prepared two 917s for the endurance race on the Sarthe, including the winning car.
