The last of “The Few” turns 105.

Group Captain John “Paddy” Hemingway DFC, AE, is the last verified surviving pilot of the Battle of Britain. He was born in Dublin on 17 July 1919.

He served during the Second World War in the Battle of Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, the Allied invasion of Italy and the Invasion of Normandy. Following the death of Terry Clark in May 2020, Hemingway became the last verified surviving airman of the Battle of Britain. He was shot down four times during the Second World War.

Salisbury Cathedral, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Salisbury Cathedral is a historic cathedral in England, famous for its elegant Gothic architecture.

It was built between 1220 and 1258, which makes it one of the fastest-built medieval cathedrals in Europe.

The cathedral is best known for having the tallest church spire in the UK, standing at 123 meters, and for preserving one of the best original copies of the Magna Carta (1215).

Today, Salisbury Cathedral remains an important religious and cultural landmark, admired for its beauty and history.
