about
All aboard! This is “Sites and Sound” the 22nd song from Vanilla’s “Pish Posh” maxi-album and the fourth song recorded at Wally Heider/Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco last month.
There are some geographies that people have a desire to visit and revisit in their lifetime. This song is about taking the polar flight from SEA to LHR….No matter how long and plodding the flight is, you get a good feeling boarding the plane and arriving. And even with jumping 8 time zones, for some reason you feel adrenalized by simply returning.
lyrics
All aboard we leave tonight, for another northern flight
The ol’ green girl is brown where ice is melting
Got the bags to the stand, express me to the hotel brand
Nothings changed the old world is waiting
Stay up and burn the light and go well into the night
You see an early call just might ruin tomorrow
I said I’d be back again and reacquaint with friends
Where the sites and sounds and cobbled ways embrace me
Screeching rails make the stop, shall we walk up to the top?
And chase shadows of the ghostly strangers
Senses stretch and overload, as I am inspired by the old
By their fortunes and all that has replaced them
As the drink accompanies me
It all feels like it’s meant to be
Yes it feels like, yes it feels like home
Just for now I am one with this place
These haunts conceal me without a trace
Yes it feels like, yes it feels like home

XTC had their moment in time...this recording extends it...Full of small, tight , quirky songs it juz rolls along. Recommended but maybe only for XTC fans.. cwhitney
