hey look over there what's that *throws these at you*
you're welcome
hey can we talk about how gl!ranboo has escaped before. can we talk about how some of the videos on the genloss channel used showfall media branded missing posters of ranboo, with a phone number that sends you to the showfall missing persons line. how, at the beginning of spirit of the cabin, ranboo says "it wasn't supposed to go like this" before the mask activates. or how, in response to there being four different codes, hetch says "they must've increased security since last time" and doesn't elaborate. how showfall has a 7 foot tall mechanical monster as their security, and made sure to flood every possible route that they didn't want ranboo and charlie to go down with staff members. how they took every possible precaution to make sure no one could ever escape again. can we talk about that.
Going slowly mad abt the way that genloss tricks you into thinking you know 100% what it’s about. Like, it PRETENDS its entire big reveal is that the show was hiding fucked up stuff from you, which would make the moral something about how you don’t see the bad stuff behind the camera, and you’re following along with that fine! But then they hit you with that ENDING, and you realise that’s not actually the whole Point after all.
Because NOW we know the true show being put on for us was the mystery, the “truth”, the little flashes of The Real Ranboo, and that means that this show is now digging into our DESIRE for those things, the way that we as an audience WANT to see the “real person” behind our favourite streamer. We WANT an in, a peek through the mask, and the most extreme form of that desire for Intimacy is this kind of brutal tearing apart of a person live on stream for us to consume.
This isn’t just true of Ranboo either!! It’s true of most of the characters - we like them more when they’re NOT performing on purpose and I think that the way this series draws attention to that is very interesting. We care more about the blood and guts than the slime and candy, we react BETTER to it, we WANT to imagine there’s something Real and Gritty under all the lightheartedness and humour.
And in the same way it’s like we somehow can’t just be satisfied with the silly show, we NEED to find a Real Person with Real Feelings under it, even if we tear them to bits in the process. That desire is the Market that makes this whole horrifying show VIABLE as a business decision for the in-universe company making it, and I think that’s a big part of what this series is playing with: in the end, we found that real person we were looking for, and in our first moment of true empathy we killed them to set them free from our own fascination with knowing them

Ranboo’s instructions for the cast designing their characters was to portray a simplified version of their streamer personas!! We theorized but Niki outright said that was their direction!!!
Her talking about designing her character is so ingenious and heartbreaking, I’ll add the clip as soon as I can <333
Transcript (credit to @ranvwoop):
i just think it’s real interesting how during the code segment ranboo was adamant that we’d choose wrong on purpose because we wanted to kill him. of course we spammed into chat that we would never and we were here to help him, and we cared about him.
gl!ranboo only knew we voted red. for all he knew, the code could have been one of the others he didn’t try. he had no reason to trust us, he thought we’d want to kill him.
and after us screaming at him that we wanted him to live, that we loved him that we would never kill him, thirty minutes later we voted for him to die.
gl!ranboo died thinking we voted because we thought he deserved it. gl!ranboo thought we wanted to kill him. gl!ranboo thought we probably wanted to kill him the whole time because we hated him. gl!ranboo never knew we killed him because we loved him.
