This isn’t a fic! Sorry, mild Phighting fan-work rant :]
Okay so I’m not usually someone who promotes work that I’ve seen or enjoyed; but oh my god. Milkie just keeps hitting me where I know it’s brilliant.
For those of you who don’t know Milkie, she’s a phighting centric artist who posts pretty frequently on Tumblr and Tiktok, and occasionally youtube. Now this is all fine and dandy, but why am I so chattery about this right now?
I’ve never been a huge fan of musicals, apart from a few songs and maybe if I was lucky; Ride the Cyclone. However I’ve always been avoidant of their music. But I dropped that the very MOMENT milkie posted this absolutely BEAUTIFUL work of art. Which will be linked here [And this one is the tumblr post! ] Now if you’re unfamiliar with me, I’m. stupid. I like so many characters, and have a brain made for creativity. However all of that pales in my genuine adoration for Milkie’s work. The way I have seen her characterize Medkit’s constant paranoia and detachment to getting attached is something I cannot get enough of. And I have to include Subspace’s characterization as well like. come on. Her takes on characters are always to a point that you can SEE it perfectly in line with the canon.
Now obviously, that’s not all I like. But it’s one of the things I do. But my personal favorite is her next generation AU. NG is basically fanchildren, but it’s so fucking beautiful it destroyed me the first few times I watched it. The characterization of actual characters interacting with their own spawn was perfectly in tandem with their own character and their own hatred for each other. [Poison butterfly!] Foxglove in particular is one of my heart’s favorites. She’s the spawn of Medkit and Subspace, but leads a life I think is tragic. Believing herself to be abandoned by one father, she’s forced to live with the other. Who only sees his enemy in his daughter. Which leads to Foxglove learning from that treatment. The trajectory of the entire NG is just SO well structured and I. HEHAUIEEIAEAHG I am probably not Milkie’s biggest fan but I will pretend I am to feed my normal idolization of their WONDERFUL work.
