THE HEART KILLERS | EP6

Me and Thee continues to surprise me because seeing a Blue Boy break down in a hospital because he feels safe enough with someone rather than him being the one providing the safety and security … wow.
Maybe because I live in the colors, but this moment has weight. Blue Boys are loyal. Blue Boys are safe. Blue Boys are calm. Yet here is Thee, a Red Rascal, giving all that to his Blue Boy Peach because he is showing his love in all the ways Peach would show his love.
But I don’t think this is just a Thee thing. I think it’s a family thing.
So let me look closer at these two Red Rascal brothers and their Blue Boy love interests in the fifth episode titled “Selfie.”
Rome loves Mok. He has made that pretty clear as he asks his mom why his family has the “no-love rule” as he looks at Mok with the saddest heart eyes.
But even him pinning Mok down on the bed shows how much he wants Mok.
And that’s where the brothers show that they are related not just by blood, but also by thought because Rome is a Red Rascal just like his older brother.
Who shows his love for his Blue Boy in very obvious ways that make sense specifically to his Blue Boy as he wears blue in a very blue room.
Like, normally I would worry that a Red Rascal character is drinking red wine while reading a red covered Anna Karenina, which is about a married rich woman’s tragic downfall after her passionate affair, but he stops reading it the second his man sneezes and he shares his wine with him.
Rome ain’t trying to have a scandalous affair with a sad ending. He is trying to show his future husband that he can take care of him, which is exactly what Thee is trying to do, and it’s why both brothers wear their man’s color.
They are passionate and impulsive Red Rascals regardless of what they say.
But that just means that they are working on a crazy level to guarantee their Blue Boys know they are loved even if they don’t want any part of it.
There is no barrier they won’t break to get to their man. And if their man doesn’t see them as having a future together (reflection!!!), they are going to make sure their man sees them, every day, all day.
They are going to do whatever they need to do to make sure their man takes them seriously because they are serious about their man, like learning how to play the handpan.
Or threatening hospital staff.
Or putting little hearts on his man’s blue vacation banner.
But, once again, Thee does all of this with the fervor of a Red Rascal no matter how hard he might try to hide it because it will always pop up like it did with the dark red velvet curtains when he spoke to his brother about him loving Mok.
Or the red lining of Thee’s all-black suit jacket that was exposed when Peach finally allowed Thee to get comfortable in his house.
Or when his Blue Boy decides to bring up the man who harmed him during their lovely dinner.
While Peach gets calmer (and bluer) because he feels safe with Thee,
Thee gets more upset (and redder) that Peach would even be worried about a man who would try to harm him.
~This is how you get a Colors Award for lighting!~
Just like with Mok, Peach’s world may have been completely blue before,
But his Red Rascal’s presence is changing him just like it’s changing his once tan-colored sheets to a light pink.
And it’s changing the way he sees the world as he switches between his blue and red camera strap.
Peach is a Blue Boy.
Who is used to being alone and providing peace and protection for others.
But he is quickly falling in love with a Red Rascal who makes him feel safe.
And that Red Rascal will swim the entire ocean just to remind his Blue Boy that he is loved. Always.
