the angst is so good it has me thinking about more predator!member x prey!reader... hear me out on snake!jake and mouse!reader pls.

he loves to stalk his prey, maybe even toy around with her, he’s such a smooth talker too he just knows what to say to let her guard down for a while. but wait! hear me out on this.. mouse!reader is the one with her instincts telling her to run away, to hide and sneak around him, forming a sort of push and pull dynamic with the two where he’s trying desperately to pull her close because of the intensity of that pull he feels from the bottom of his chest and even if she feels the pull as well she rather listen to her instincts that scream at her to run from his intimidating presence than risk being eaten up..

(not me bringing up snake!jake again but i just can’t resist he’s slithered his way into my heart and wont leave🫩..) 

anon this is such an interesting combo i can’t even lie you had me searching up shit i would’ve never even imagined me to search up. but here we are. and i’m all for it btw.

i think snake jake with mouse reader is such an extendable duo .. like it def has lots of potential especially with the primal play .. or power play really. i think snake jake would be— just like you said, he’ll tease, he’ll be playful, he’ll edge, creep, slither, hiss and all of the above just as a way of playing around w mouse reader who’s all shudders and scrambling away when he slithers a bit too close.

there’s definitely something deeply instinctual on jake’s side .. for him to always have his heart be tugged on her direction, a specific rooted joy that he gets when she squeaks and disappears out of sight in the blink of an eye, it’s both adorable and satisfying in his eyes knowing that he’s the only one who would have her like this, it definitely eventually extends to become more of a “i’ll scare you and protect you from me” at the same time— because she’ll grow familiar with it.

without even realising your ears would lower all braveness dissipating and tail wrapping around his own wrist after he scared you, crawling out from behind a tree out of nowhere just to scent your irregular heartbeat, his tongue would hiss out just to taste the air around you both, the salty fear, the bitter anxiety, your own shakiness radiating off of you— and it’s a way it literally feeds him. he feels complete relief and familiarity when you cuddle close to him again, arms trembling as your wrap them around his waist and he’s just cooing at you. “scared you too hard, little mouse?”

his pupils would slit thinner when you would nod, still shaken up, still shivering in the forest where he loved to creep up behind you and scare you, “it’s okay, you know i’ll never hurt you. you’re my favourite prey.” jake said with a sly smile, divided tongue peeking out just to lick at your cheek. “i’ll never scare you enough to kill you, you’re where all my fun is at. my favourite toy.” and somehow, the reassurance that he would never go that far— no matter how many times your instincts sensed and screamed ‘danger’ and ‘fatality’— was calming and very much needed, because even if he toyed with your very heart at every chance he got, he’ll never go far enough to make it stop.
