Danica included a little detail in Stone’s design that always brings me to tears - I have a matching little mole below my right eye. 💖

This scene was the first we ever recorded of The Wizard, The Witch, and The Wild One, and I’ve thought about it a hundred times. It’s completely unreal to see it now! Danica is a wizard!

"You see this young woman, with the blue corduroy patched witches hat, walking up, and you see there’s something tucked into her coat, ...and a little rooster’s head pops out of her coat, as Morning Wrensong, in the memory of starlight, first comes to the Keep of the World’s Heart"

I'm so proud of this 5'2" baddie in a blue corduroy patched witches hat. She is a character that represents community, love, togetherness and she is one of my favorites from The Wizard, The Witch, and The Wild One from @worldsbeyondpod. She is the Witch of the World's Heart, but simply known as Grandmother Wren to many and particularly to Ame, Suvi, and Eursulon. If you don't already listen to this podcast, I truly cannot recommend it enough. Every member of the team is a master in the craft of storytelling.

The details:

- 1890's split skirt overalls, because they are practical for riding a broom

- a patched hanbok vest to match the hat because Ame's favorite meal is her jook

- rooster feathers in her hat and rooster earrings to echo her love for her familiar Taro

- a wicker backpack because I firmly believe all witches are over packers

- a teacup holster and a teacup suited for someone named Morning Wrensong because one must always be ready for tea

- a pocket watch, but I wonder if it would actually tells time

Grandmother Wren

- rooster red embroidery throughout and hearts on her sleeve

- over 80% of her build is made from thrifted or upcycled materials and she started as a con-crunch stash buster

Something something suvi is what her parents wanted to be and what steel could have been. And eursulon is what sir Curran wanted to be and what the man in black could have been. Something something grandma ren could never have been what Ame is because that isnt what the world needed then. Ame is the foil to both steel and the man in black because she tempers cunning and a desire for understanding with kindness and respect (steel) and she has been wronged greatly by the citadel but wishes to save wizardry not destroy it(Man in Black). Something something

Gosh I love this story so much.

"I don't have to kill you, I just have to make you different. I spent my life turning you into the woman she should have been."

I've just been fatally shot 50 billion times.

And thus the Book ends.

What a fucking ride. Spoilers under the cut.

I will miss this world, but am excited for a new adventure.

the thing about steel and why i was riding so hard for her was all the comments that were like i KNEW she was evil and i was like well she's not evil. i know she's not evil. she can be a bad guy and she can be behind many of the obstacles the pcs have been facing and she can do bad things for the wrong reasons but that woman is not evil. suvi loves her, and continues to love her. aabria makes that so clear over and over and then finally brennan said the thing that made it all make sense. steel needed to save stone, and to do that she saved her worth to the citadel. not the woman, but the value that the institution placed in her. and steel can make the institution into anything she wants. her namecloak is steel because that's what a sword is made of, but steel is also a verb. it's something you do to yourself and your beliefs against opposition. she made herself hard. she made herself into a weapon. she is what she called herself, but she is not evil.

And this is why she is one of my favorite characters. She's an antagonists for sure, but I don't think she's the evil that everyone is pegging her for. She's just too far gone in the justification machine (Suvi learned from the best after all). Who knows if she could be redeemed, but regardless, I do believe she did everything out of love for Suvi and for Stone
