also i did finally watch d3rlord3's uncut footage and like why is he so endearing. this is likely colored at least a little by my perception of him being a lady but some of the things he does is so funny and like. Exceedingly personable or even kinda scary knowing how it all ends and it once again saddens me bc he is truly Just Some Guy that this happened to. i am watching it a second time just to write this all down at least Mostly sequentially
-he did not bring enough torches and keeps going back and forth to pick them up and place them as he goes. eventually makes like 4 more. doesn't even use all of them
-the stone tools and enchanted iron pickaxe that's near breaking like from the beginning
-keeps falling from Just Too High of heights and takes damage and idk if that's him saying "fuck it whatever" or misjudging the height it takes to take damage
-says "let me go get some water" 11:30 in, in that big big cave with the impossibly big trees. it's also funny to me he cuts That footage of him being away but not the (upcoming) 17 minutes of near-nothing solving the cipher stacked poem. that he doesn't even tell us the answer to
-like also btw he was absolutely Originally intending to post this on youtube right. i can only assume so since he's Recording It At All and typing in the chat/correcting typos presumably for the theoretical future viewers, like especially the "let me go get water" message
-he pretty consistently looks behind himself after the first Whispering Event/ jumping off the cliff into the water. later on he starts crab walking too. and he starts Going Back to close doors and block off holes he came through
-he deliberates what underwater tunnel to take like a dozen times bc he has to keep either going to the surface for air or giving himself air w that door trick. or the one where he goes up against a wall and keeps throwing out his torches picking them right back up but otherwise I can't really tell what he's doing HSBSJSBDSJ
-blocks off the underwater tunnel he came through like 3 times over and is like. maybe a bit frantic about it? he misplaces quite a few of them but that Could just be bc he was trying to be quick to not Drown
-i think he accidentally tabs out momentarily when he goes to make the hopper trap HZBSJSN
- uses up all but One baked potato to recover health trying not to die from drowning over and over before finally turning on peaceful in the stone floor forest/three signs area
-the hopper trap and dirt/grass trap we all know it we all love it. i have to wonder if the dirt turning to grass really was an oversight on the king's part or it was purposeful just to give d3rlord3 a false sense of security. like it knew he would check the hopper first and then look up and see the grass block in the distance
-Eveeybody has pointed out how he pretty much always picks left first in every choice he is presented, I had meant to see if he does the classic "stick to the left wall of the maze to find your way out" but i got lost just watching. but I think he goes down just about every path and just blocks off dead ends
-he walks zigzagging All The Way up to the cipher stacked poem wall and combination lock, says "hold on I'll need a paper and pen for this", Runs Back and Very Rushed-ly he blocks off nearly the entire big entryway To the cipher stacked poem wall Area, and then Hops Back to place to start writing
-"this isn't trivial" "you really put in effort here didn't you" 6:30 minutes into the 17 minutes of solving the cipher stacked poem
-"unfortunately for you" "I have a pickaxe" the classic line we all know it we all love it
-he stops to stare at the winged statue on the abandoned town's fountain a good few times. like every time it catches his eye he stops to stare for at least a second. as he's going through the dilapidated houses he'll see it through the holes in the walls and just pause. he comes out of a house and sees it and pauses. and then he finally runs up to and Builds up to it to look at it head on for like A Whole Entire Two Minutes just kind of adjusting his view every so often. I'm taking this as foreshadowing on the eye contact he makes w the king. smiles. even as he builds up the tower to just look around he slows down when the fountain comes back into view Twice, and then when he's running To the building in the distance (mentioned in the next point) he turns back and sees the fountain and pauses again. It's Making Me A Little Crazy(positive)
-turning down his field of view to see the building in the distance better and doing those little jumps. the "aha"
-why does he keep digging up and replacing the gravel in the house
-the book in that house was always really interesting to me. i'm? under the impression this is supposed to be carcosa? right? lost carcosa presumably a recreation of it? I'm thinking that was a real person who originally wrote that journal and the king adapted it into his minecraft recreation. that person likely saw the king to write that page saying to turn back/ disconnect/ for your own good dont go any further Most Certainly pointedly at d3rlord3 and perhaps avery. that person likely went through the same brain breaking Forever Knowledge d3rlord3 did. not that we have much to go on but I don't think we talk about this person enough
-he's had a couple moments now where he goes to leave and suddenly turns back and explores more to find something, like leaving that house, staring into the distance a few seconds, and turning around going back in and breaking blocks to look for Something, like the trap door And Then the door behind the bookcase. he says he was compelled in that moment he jumped from the cliff into the water, and ofc there's the Choosing Left At Every Option. i get the feeling this is also that same compell-ment.
-HE DELIBERATES ON GOING LEFT AT THE CROSSROADS FOR A GOOD MINUTE OR SO. HE KEEPS TURNING BACK AND FORTH TO LOOK DOWN THE LEFT AND RIGHT WAYS AND BACK THE WAY HE CAME FROM. AND HE CONSISTENTLY LINGERS LOOKING DOWN THE LEFT PATH. CHRIST.
-why did a cave sound happen and change his whole inventory . why did stepping on the black block do that . I did not notice that before. wifies did not point that out. why did he not point this out what does this mean. come to think of it why didn't he talk about the Staring At The Statue Thing either
-the fact that looking at the king doesn't just Completely stunlock him is so interesting to me. he, like when looking at the statue, continually adjusts his view. before slowly inching back out and then Running away, again looking back every so often. I don't think he understood what he was looking at at first. i know some people believe he was reading act two of The King In Yellow The Play but idk it being the king itself just makes more sense to me, w how its been alluded to over and over that he's being Followed, and that the abandoned village Summoned a king. it just makes more sense to me that it'd be a Being behind that censor
-he trips running away :'[
-Something funny to me that he breaks the blocks back into the strip mine with an ink sac in his hand. all those angsty fan arts of this scene of him w bloodied knuckles from punching straight stone? wrong! that's ink on his fingers /silly
-the way he looks back and forth a dozen times from the chest to the hole he just punched through :[ he knows being followed back doesn't he
-its been pointed out how he stops caring about correcting typos when he writes the book warning and ive pointed that he normally types Not capitalizing the starts of sentences (or i's), but when he writes the book he Does. leading me to believe he had been infact purposely Uncapitalizing and in writing the book was too frantic to care about that either
-and all he really tells avery is to not go left at the Crossroads. you would think avery would have to go through All Of This first, there'd be Numerous other chances to divert avery's course. he would presumably have to go through the same underwater tunnel Out Of Many unless it turns out they all lead to the same place, or unless it's gonna be even more non-euclidean for avery, like how d3rlord3 goes from the yellow doors back to the strip mine when that's obviously not how it was Getting there (also hey. the blocks d3rlord3 mined through that started him on this course In That Same Spot are just filled back when he returns. what's that about) maybe Because avery's not particularly interested in solving the puzzles for himself like d3rlord3 was, and it seems the king has like already decided avery is its next target, avery isn't going to be Given all these puzzles. d3rlord3 only Has the crossroads to warn him about
