Third night in a row not sleeping due to russia attacking my city, Kyiv, with drones. Not a huge amount, 20 something each night, but each night you have to gamble with your life by simply going to bed in your own home.

Just a few minutes ago an explosion rocked through my neighborhood, and my dog started panicking. He's used to us hiding in the underground parking lot during air raids, so he was very surprised to see us not getting ready to leave. We can't really explain to a dog that it's -15°C outside and that if we went to the shelter every night, we would never get any sleep. So we had to calm him down with soothing pets instead

Fourth day in a row now. Or night. We had air raid alerts both during the day and the night.

This time russians attacked Zaporizhya region, Kharkiv region and Kyiv region with ballistic missiles. In an hour and a half there were launched around 20 ballistic missiles in total, and it's more than during any of air raids in 2026. Kharkiv and Zaporizhya regions were also attacked with drones.

We heard the distant explosions from my home but my friend on the other side of the city got woken up by stronger ones. The electricity has been going haywire since them, and there are issues with water in the city too. The central heating in my apartment also got colder. I hope it doesn't go lower, or the pipes are going to be dead frozen until late spring.

But I mean, this is what russia is trying to do, you know? Make us, civilians, scared and disoriented. In fact, our troops on the frontline cleaned up Kupyansk city and put up the Ukrainian flag on top of the city council building. It's super tough on the front but they're tougher. And we've got to hold strong here too, not fall into panic. It's going to be alright in the end.

Fifth night in a row now. Today both sides of my city, Kyiv, (city is separated by a river in the middle) had bad situation with electricity. All electrical public transport, like trolleybuses and trams, had to be substituted by buses. The situation is worse in towns around Kyiv.

I cannot overstate how much I underestimated the amount of winter we would get this season I Do Not Have autumn/winter shoes I literally only just ordered a pair off zalando and they are supposed to arrive thursday through monday I have sneakers and a pair of mid wool socks. I work until 10pm. today it said -8C (feels like -13C) (I did this to myself. I've had a single pair of autumn/winter shoes for 3 years and didn't notice they broke recently) anyway. this is fine

"Friends outside of Minnesota please read. I'm sharing a post written by a personal friend and medical doctor:
Friends outside MN, you need to know what is happening here. Everyone knows that ICE shot and killed a woman here on Wednesday. But that’s not the only thing that’s going on:

  • ICE agents are cruising areas with immigrant-owned businesses, and kidnapping patrons and employees alike. Yesterday they abducted two US citizen employees at a suburban Target, one who was begging them to allow him to go get his passport to show them.
  • ICE is going door to door in immigrant-heavy neighborhoods, asking residents where their immigrant neighbors live. Read that again. If it sounds like something out of your high school history textbook, that’s because it is.
  • ICE is targeting schools and school buses. They pepper sprayed teenagers and abducted two school staff members at the high school up the street from me on Wednesday. Police are literally escorting school buses to ensure children can get to school and home safely. The Minneapolis Public Schools have moved to virtual learning for the next 4 weeks because it’s unsafe for children or teachers to physically come to school.
  • They are targeting hospitals and clinics. Patients are scared and are cancelling their appointments or just not showing up. Kids are missing their checkups and vaccines, folks aren’t getting their cancer care, etc.
  • They are smashing windows in cars and homes.
  • ICE is increasingly picking up Native Americans—again, targeting folks based on skin color alone.
  • They are arresting and beating legal observers. A friend of a friend had her arm broken yesterday. Folks are showing up at local hospitals, brought in in ICE custody, with severe injuries that are absolutely inconsistent with mechanism of injury reported by ICE. (Think: patient appears to have been beaten unconscious, while ICE agent says he slipped and fell.)
I can’t emphasize enough that these ICE agents do not have warrants. There are 2,000+ agents here and they are simply hunting for anyone that’s not white. It doesn’t matter if you’re a citizen or a green card holder, they will kidnap you first and ask questions later.

But the community is fighting back.
  • Protests are happening every day.
  • Community groups have been leading know-your-rights sessions for months, often to packed venues.
  • Whistles are being distributed by the thousands, carried on keychains and worn on coat zippers, always at the ready to be blown in warning if ICE is spotted.
  • Drivers are following ICE vehicles, blaring their horns in warning.
  • Businesses are locking their doors even while open to keep employees and customers safe. As I type this, I’m standing guard at the locked door of our neighborhood burrito joint while I wait for my takeout order, so the employees can focus on their jobs. The place is packed with neighbors supporting this small business.
  • Anti-ICE signs are posted everywhere. The community is making it crystal clear that ICE is not welcome here.
  • Parents and neighbors are standing guard outside schools, organizing carpools, and escorting kids to and from school on foot.
  • Parents of kids in Spanish-immersion daycare (there are a LOT of these daycares here!) are keeping their kids home so the teachers don’t have to take the risk of coming to work.
  • Churches and community groups are holding fundraisers to buy and deliver groceries to families who don’t feel safe leaving home.
  • Mutual aid money is going out to folks who can’t make rent because they can’t work or because a breadwinner was abducted, or who need a warm place to stay after their home’s windows were smashed.

THAT is what is happening here. This fight is ongoing and it’s horrifying to watch. But we are not backing down. To my friends in other cities and states, don’t think for a minute that this won’t happen in your town. It will. Be ready. Learn from us, as we have learned from Portland and Chicago and New York. Fight back. Don’t let us get to the last line of Martin Niemoller’s poem.”

Here's an AP news brief with a little more info. It's limited in the way major news outlets are right now but provides context that supports the personal account shared.

there was a bit of a tone in a line in the gq article that bugged me a little bit merely because it compounds onto the increasing narrative that i've seen a minor amount of heated rivalry fans espouse, where they talk generally about how there's no way the sex scenes are 100% choreographed, they feel so real or things with a similar sentiment.

image

this on its own isn't a big deal but the "at the risk of ruining the fantasy" quote and it being insinuated that the interviewer maybe was implying or inquiring about the "realness" of their sex scenes wouldn't be a huge deal, but seeing this alongside the increasing dismissal by wealthy actors and actresses of the importance of intimacy coordinators e.g. mikey madison (anora), julia roberts (after the hunt), jennifer lawrence (die my love), gwenyth paltrow and timothee chalamet (marty supreme) is so fundamentally problematic.

i don't know when it became normal to almost brag about not "needing an intimacy coordinators" because wealthy actors started believing that by having one it was almost a diss to their acting abilities, to their and their costars "chemistry" but i hope more than anything, that normal people, young royals, heated rivalry, bridgerton, all of these shows keep on highlighting what sensuality and beauty can be achieved when intimacy coordinators are brought in. while it's great and important that actors and actresses bond and can form life-long connections, sets are a PROFESSIONAL WORKPLACE. it would be a work place VIOLATION for people to just be fucking out of passion. it's fucking weird to assume that some decisions in sex scenes are "real" and it's weirder to be like "oh it's hotter cuz its real". it is a TESTAMENT to the work of the cast and the crew, it is more impressive to achieve the technical feat of following a choreographed sex scene and that should be far more talked about rather than speculation on how 2 costars MUST BE TOGETHER because of how they must have improvised a hand grab or a longer kiss. make no mistake, agreeing prior to the coordination of the intimacy coordinator what people are comfortable with, allows space for "improvised" movements, etc. but this is all part of the work!! the importance of this is espoused later in this article but also has been repeated by jonathan bailey, aimee and connor swindell on the set of sex education (who were at the time a real couple) and so many more.

image

not only does this trend feel like a massive spit in the face to the #MeToo movement for enshrining intimacy coordinators as a necessity on sets but it also dilutes the necessity of them for actors and extras WHO ARE NOT WEALTHY HOLLYWOOD ELITES. if something happens on set that julia roberts, for example, thinks "hey that's a violation of my autonomy and i was uncomfortable" you have in possession a fat bank account, a fleet of lawyers to helm an attack and protection that poor, broke extras and other actors do not have!!

the line being touted that intimacy coordinators are "optional" and that "we didn't need one" is incredibly dangerous. they are mandatory and it is not just for actors but also for the crew!

THE BEST SEX SCENES YOU'VE SEEN ALL HAVE INTIMACY COORDINATORS!!!!!

this article does a great job on expanding: https://hungermag.com/editorial/what-do-intimacy-coordinators-do-anyway

and the intimacy coordinator behind young royals, one of my favourite and i would say leading the forefront of how intimacy coordinators TRANSFORM for the better sex scenes did an incredible interview talking about it all!!

I've read articles about actresses who would shake, cry and even vomit after sex scenes in the past because they felt violated. Intimacy coordinators need to be seen as the norm, as the smart thing to do, not the weak thing.

heated rivalry I cannot stress enough how blurring the lines between the characters and actors when it comes to intimacy and sex in fandom makes me feel disgusted like literally disgusted not like in moral judgement this ties in with my aversion to rpf too long post

Maria Skłodowska-Curie's notebooks are crazy once you think about it. They're so radioactive they have to be sealed in a lead box. Imagine a world where atomic theory is forgotten and a dude just goes "yea there's a book that details the secrets of the universe, the machinations of the creation of existence down to its barest essentials, but if you get close to it you fucking die. The more you read it the more your body slowly disassembles into mush." like wat excuse me

I appreciate op writing her full name also I love the concept of postapo fantasy where stuff like this is 'magic'
